Ex-bisexual Aaron Carter wants attention, so we figured we’d indulge him because, well, why the hell not?
This week, the former teen idol posted a shirtless photo of himself on Twitter along with a caption complimenting himself on how good he looks.

To his credit, Carter definitely looks better than he did back when he was addicted to prescription painkillers and cosmetic surgery. But, come on dude, a little modesty, please.

After posting the selfie, Carter went after those who didn’t agree with his assertion that he looked “f*cking great.”

In the past, Carter has been vocal about suffering from body dysmorphia and an eating disorder, and, despite several reports to the contrary, he has vehemently denied ever being addicted to crack, meth, or heroin.
He continued:

Carter made headlines in 2017 after coming out as bisexual shortly before the release of his album LØVË. He made headlines again a few months later when he walked back the statement, saying the whole thing was “misconstrued” and he’s really only into chicks.
“Yeah, no,” he said. “I can find men and women attractive, but when it comes down to it … I see myself being with a woman and having kids.”

Social media and “gay media” are the ones that made such a gigantic deal out of him claiming that he had one sexual experience with a dude and has some type of attractions towards guys. Suddenly people wanted to make him a “bi icon” and started hyping him potentially dating guys. If the media wasn’t so easily manipulated, if we made a less big deal out of people’s admitted sexual behaviors or attractions, if we stop giving people identities that they don’t really embrace, and if folks weren’t so desperate for “representation” then sh*t like this wouldn’t happen. And maybe it’d be easier for people to be for-real honest.
Identity can be difficult stuff for a lot of folks. “Bi” is this catch-all thing for a bunch of different people with a bunch of different things going on. On the other hand, there will always be non-heterosexuals who identify as “straight”. There’s also a fair amount of non-homosexuals who see themselves as “gay”. Fluidity has legitimacy for some people. (Yes, you can lose or gain attractions, desires, romantic feelings, etc. towards certain types of people). While the romantic, sexual, emotional, relationship spectrum is wide and extremely varied. He’s clearly a manipulative dude who’s hyper focused on attention, public image and being seen as a victim. He’s got issues galore. But hating on him simply because of his issues with identity or because he won’t identify as what you want him to isn’t at all fair, as that’s a fairly common struggle for a lot of people, and everyone is different.

This is what irks me about “queer media”. Most of these sites and magazines indulge people’s narcissistic nonsense, never asks tough questions, take way too much at face value, rarely cover uncomfortable territory and rarely look at anything with any depth. Yet, most of these outlets are quick to jump on and judge others when they say/do something you don’t like.
It’s been obvious that Carter craves unrelenting attention. It’s also obvious he has a lot of internal struggles, has probably had a decent amount of trauma in his life and has general poor instincts and self-image. He also hasn’t been accused of hurting anyone as far as we know. So, an article of this nature probably is not necessary. If he was still bi-identifying (which he kinda never was) this article would probably not be so nasty in its nature.

Sharing your body pics for social media attention is a dicey game for anyone. Doing it on a large and mostly anonymous platform is just begging for people to tear you down, especially if you take the time to scroll through the comments afterwards.

Unfortunately, I have no idea who this guy is other than via older queerty articles, but I know the guy was going through every kind of thing. He should be proud of his accomplishments. Why not brag?
