A German man found guilty of killing and possibly eating another man just had his conviction overturned.
Last week, 57-year-old Detlev Guenzel, a retired-cop-turned-B&B-owner and father of three from Germany, was found guilty of murdering and dismembering Polish businessman, Wojciech Stempniewicz, in 2013.

Basically what happened is this: The men first made contact on a website for people with cannibal fantasies. The site bills itself as the “Number 1 site for exotic meat” and has more than 3,000 registered members. They chatted for a while before arranging to meet on November 4, 2013.

During the trial, Guenzel’s lawyers argued that Stempniewicz already had a death wish when he agreed to met with Guenzel. He allegedly wanted to hang himself in the cellar of Guenzel’s B&B, then, as he was gasping for air, he wanted Guenzel to come up and slice his throat with a knife then dismember his body with an electric saw and eat him.
So that’s what Guenzel did.

After cutting up Stempniewicz’s body into tiny little pieces, he buried them in his garden, recording himself in the process. In the video, which was played during the trial, Guenzel can be seen covered in blood while hacking away at the corpse.
“I never thought I would sink so low,” he can be heard sobbing to himself.
When police arrived at Guenzel’s B&B, he showed them where the pieces of Stempniewicz’s body were buried, but officers were never able to locate victim’s penis, believing it may have been eaten.

Last week, Guenzel was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison after being found guilty of murder and disturbing a corpse. But then yesterday, the German constitutional court unexpectedly quashed that conviction and ordered a retrial after it was discovered that neither Stempniewicz’s corpse nor the rope he allegedly used to hang himself were properly examined.
The chairman of the Constitutional Court Senate, Gunther Sander, said, “The cards have been completely reshuffled.”
Guenzel, the father of three adult children, has been described by friends and neighbors as “affable, warm-hearted and courteous.” His retrial date has yet to be announced.

Articles like this make me all the happier that Jeffrey Dahmer was not around when the internet exploded in popularity. Imagine how many would have fell victim to him (Dahmer), Elmer Wayne Henry, John Wayne Gacy, William Bonner (the L.A. Freeway killer of young gay boys and men whom I am going to my grave believe that sure as hell was him I met one night and got the HELL out of his van)……
What’s disturbing is having to think about the ones who haven’t been caught yet.

@joeyty: Ok, I was close. Twice (lol). I will never forget that man as long as I live. You talk about a CREEP his ass (or the guy I’m mistaking to be him) was it. When I saw the movie about him and the inside of that nasty, raggedy ass van was shown a COLD shiver went thru my body. Every damn thing in that scene looked exactly as I saw it in his van. And his speech pattern was as unforgettable. It was babble, incoherent but what struck you as odd was you knew this guy was not high off drugs nor drunk. You just knew to get the HELL away from him because he was CRAZY.
As I said, I am going to my grave believing that sure as hell was him and how close I might have come to being one of his victims. We were ALL young and silly once upon a time in our lives but I doubt any of us set out one night to be intentionally eaten alive by a psycho on a cannibal trip. These people who look for shit like that are nuts. I mean really, you seek out people to eat but what happens if it backfires and they eat you? I ask you, where is the sanity in it?

@Bob LaBlah: Sometime, on YouTube, look up the documentaries on Ronald Dominique, a Louisiana man who killed a slew of rough trade hustler types. It’s an amazing story, criminologically-speaking, because it shows how easily a seemingly-harmless little wuss of a guy can trick his victims.

@joeyty: I appreciate the info but realizing that had I not listened to my “spider-sense” once it started tingling and I could have ended up in the same situation as the poor souls whose only mistake was trusting this ANIMAL I pass on watching any video of this perverted fuck. I am so happy that person who knew something was wrong went to the police (the guy refused to let him tie him up).
I did do a google search and read two articles about him though. I searched for the second article to confirm my suspicions as to who the majority of his victims were and I was right. He didn’t discriminate in his quest to commit murder. The fact that it was Louisiana and he didn’t get the death penalty was the obvious hint.
