2016 has claimed yet another one. After suffering a massive heart attack late last week, Carrie Fisher died earlier today in Los Angeles. She was 60 year old.

The iconic actress who portrayed Princess Leia in the Star Wars series suffered a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles on Friday. The heart attack occurred 15 minutes before the plane was scheduled to land. An EMT on board administered CPR until the aircraft reached the ground and she was rushed to the hospital.
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” Simon Halls, a spokesperson for Fisher’s family, said in a statement to People.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly,” added Lourd. “Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”

What a sad year.

May the force be with you Princess. Rip.

I really hate being at the age where all of the pop culture icons of my youth start to die. I’m ready for this year to end.
Carrie Fisher is now one with the force. Rest In Peace, princess.
ChrisK
Why are so many stars dying that I actually like. Stop it. Damn:(

Nancy Reagan, David Bowie, George Michael, Gene Wilder (Willy Wonka), Florence Henderson (Brady Bunch), Prince, and now, Princess Leia the amazing Carrie Fisher.
It’s official – the 80’s childhood I knew is dead.
RIP icons!

F*** 2016. So why didn’t Donald Trupm or Milo Yiannopoulos die instead of G. Michael and Carrie? Ugh, this world isn’t fair.

So sad

@linnie_yiediterrianyanne: Don’t plug that Milo person. He’ll go away.

2016 has been called the Year of Sorrow, with some many losses . Natalie Cole to now Carrie Fisher. It is a deep sadness, no parent should bury their child. A legend , like so many that passed this year will always be remembered. The force is certainly with Princess Leia.
Xzamistletoe
@TimberWolf: Well, Natalie Cole died on the very last day of 2015, but her death was when the legends just started to die. I’m not a superstitious person, or even believe in a god, but even I can’t help noticing how weird it is to see so many notable stars and figures dying in one year.

2016 blows. When a pocket Constitution is considered an accessory, we’ve got trouble. Nice stocking-stuffer, though.

RIP Carrie. Your death once again reminds me of that will I really do need to get together because I am again reminded how old I am and that I won’t live forever.
Jack Meoff
@ChrisK: It’s a by-product of getting older. It sucks but it is also inevitable.

RIP Carrie Fisher. Unbelievably gone too soon.

Sleep well Princess you will be missed……

I like all the Star Wars movies. Carrie Frances Fisher did a nice job being Princess Leia. She was old (60), so it was her time to go. Mark Richard Hamill is alive as of 2016 to be Luke Skywalker.
ChrisK
@abnerb: You’re insane as usual.
girldownunder
You expect death at an old age, but this year has seen far too many dying at relatively young ages…that, is what’s so very sad. I also didn’t appreciate all of the drama surrounding Carrie Fisher’s “looks” and all of the horrible & awful human beings who thought it was their right to judge how she aged– never living a day in her shoes or caring one bit.
As a mother of two, I cannot even imagine what her mother is experiencing right now. Condolences to her family & friends. Just incredibly sad, all around. 🙁

My Youth Is Officially Over, All Of My Heroes & Sheroes Are Now Gone.

Officially 2016 sucks ass!
Captain Obvious
Right on the heels of her spilling a bunch of Hollyweird tea about underage affairs. She seemed healthy on Ellen. Go figure.
Charlie in Charge
Heartbreaking. I highly recommend the audible.com version of her one woman show Wishful Drinking. It’s a gem.

Fuck. You. 2016.
abnerb
@jag4313: If you hate something, then I don’t understand why you use F word, since F word means you want to have sex and why you want to have sex with 2016, I don’t understand.
CARRIE FRANCES FISHER WAS AN OLD WOMAN-60 YEARS OLD. YOUNG IS UNDER 30 YEARS OLD. CARRIE FRANCES FISHER’S OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE GRANDCHILDREN. I like all the Star Wars movies. Carrie Frances Fisher did a nice job being Princess Leia. She was old (60), so it was her time to go. Mark Richard Hamill is alive as of 2016 to be Luke Skywalker.
ErikO
Rest in peace.

@abnerb: As of this morning, we have lost a lot of great celebrities in 2016, thus my expression of Fuck You 2016. Carrie Fisher and her mom Debbie Reynolds, David Bowie, Pete Burns, Prince, George Michael, Alan Rickman, Gene Wilder, Florence Henderson, Zsa Zsa Gabor and the list goes on. So no, I do not want to have sex with 2016, I am upset with 2016. And on top of all of this we also lost America in 2016. RIP AMERICA!

Channel the anger into 2018.

@jag4313:
Well then what you must say is I hate 2016. Carrie Frances Fisher did a nice job being Princess Leia. She was old (60), so it was her time to go. Mark Richard Hamill is alive as of 2016 to be Luke Skywalker.
