It’s like the Donald Trump administration is trying to set records for the most incompetent government officials in American history. Even when they do something insane and dangerous, their way of dealing with it is even worse.
Case in point: Betsy DeVos, the billionaire heiress who thinks she’s qualified to run the nation’s schools despite not really knowing anything about education. What’s worse: her family has given millions of dollars to various dangerous groups like Focus on the Family and the Family Research Council, both of which exist to spread lies and denigrate LGBT families. Great use of money, there, Betsy.

When pressed on the donations, which happened over the span of years, her excuse now is that she was never involved in them; and that her name appeared on the paperwork — for 13 years — by mistake. Uh-huh. And the dog ate her homework we hear.

Even if her ridiculous claim was true, it doesn’t really make anything better.
As Secretary of Education, DeVos will be in charge of (among many other things) ensuring that students’ civil rights are protected. It’s great that she’s not pretending that she never supported ex-gay camps and abusive homophobic rhetoric. But what’s she going to do to keep that garbage out of schools? Or will she just turn a blind eye to it for thirteen years by “mistake”?

Betsy DeVos significantly funded Tony Perkin’s Family Research Counsel. This is one of the worst anti-LGBTQ organizations in the United States. Tony organization spreads misinformation about the LGBTQ to demonize and marginalize our tribe. The FRC uses discredited “research” to justify his actions, which are rooted in religious hatred for the LGBTQ.
Betsy DeVos should not be in charge of our national education programs.

Were I a prayerful person, I would pray mightily for my brothers and sisters in the United States, and the nation as a whole.
I’ve always been a proud Canadian but Trump makes me moreso. Canada has always welcomed immigrants and refugees and I’m sure we can make plenty of room for my brothers and sisters who find his presidency too oppressive.
Some of us have jokingly suggested that maybe WE should build a wall along the American/Canadian international boundary!
When he’s gone, what will happen to the White House? Put a dome over it and fumigate for 6 months, or burn it down and start from scratch?

This woman is public enemy #1 of public education. The kids going to school under her are gonna be dumb as dirt. She’ll destroy the Education Department. Plus, she’s definitely a homophobe. Her father was a founder of the Family Research Council.

Shannon: wow. It’d be one thing if she attempted to defend the decision (“my faith is important to me,” etc.), but her statements are just blatant lies. The opposite of truth, the opposite of reality. If we’re going to allow people to say anything they want, then why have hearings at all? This is just theater.

Perhaps you might also take the same hard long look at why Clinton lost, if the Democrats had been doing such a great job why aren’t we looking at the enthronement of Queen Hilary, why? because the Clinton Foundation is just a swill pit of political corruption hundreds of millions of dollars paid in by dictators and mass murders from some the most LGBT oppressive regimes in history, a woman who thinks she is above and beyond the rules, a poisonous witch who has done great damage to our community overseas by supporting the people and governments who attack and murder our brothers & sisters.
