Proving themselves to be relevant, the media watchdog group GLAAD has successfully petitioned actor Scott Caan to apologize for calling a pesky paparazzo a “faggot”.
TMZ caught the actor’s tacky rant yesterday, when Caan said,
I saw you shooting me while I was eating a cheeseburger. Fucking jack-off. I’ll give you a thousand dollars to come fight me, how about that? $2000. $2500. Ten grand if you’ll fight me. Get a real job, you faggot.
Though GLAAD president Neil Giuliano sympathized with Caan’s plight, he and his were deeply offended by his “dehumanizing remarks”. As if paparazzi are human!
Fearing the gay wrath, Caan readily agreed to issue his personal apologies through his personal publicist:
I am sorry for using such a derogatory word. I was being harassed by a paparazzi and, unfortunately, the word slipped out. I don’t ever condone the use of that word and I deeply apologize to anyone whom I may have offended.
Yes, but did you apologize to the poor, defenseless paparazzo?

I always thought Scott Caan was gay. I really do believe that it was a heat-of-the-moment insult, and I especially love the part where he’s quoted as saying “I don’t ever condone the use of that word….” I still think he plays for our team, so no harm done. Love you Scott!

He is just a pig. You got GLAAD!
Dawster
umm… hey GLAAD: not a single LGBT issue was brought up in last night’s democratic debate. do you really think that going after celebrities attacking the frustrating paparazzi should be your focus of the day?
hells kitchen guy
oh cut him some slack. he said it in the heat of the moment and apologized. get over it.
Hotrodbuddy
Forgiven!!!!
Charley
GLAAD has spun off into being a Hollywood paaparazzi of a different sort. They are obsessed with celebrities and notlawmakers.
Jon
Scott Caan is so fucking hot. He can beat my ass and call me faggot any day of the week. He doesn’t even have to pay me $2500!
Jack Jett
I would be more apt to forgive him if he would let me spit fuck him.

I don’t care WHAT he calls me…just CALL, ok Scott?…PLEASE!
Lawrence Chevalier
I’m a gay man. I’m not offended by his outrage at the paparazzi. If you can, get word to him…
Suggest him trying using “a$$hole.” It offends everyone you’re addressing it to, but doesn’t seem to offend anyone in the general population. Add the usual “F*cking (otherwise known as the “other” “F” word) adjective and it intensifies the statement.
Long live Mr. Caan!He may just be a real actor someday.
Zack
Why are some of you letting this guy off easier for saying “faggot” than you did Isaiah Washington? Never mind, I know why.
Dawster
(1) scott caan is pretty, and pretty people are always allowed one out. in actuality EVERYONE should be allowed one out anyway (let he without sin cast the first stiletto…).
(2) when it comes to the paparazzi, they tend to be suffocating and the pressure they cause can wear a person… bringing out the worst.
(3) i think what he said was wrong, and he should have apologized, i just dont think Glaad needed to waste their valuable time on this.
(4) isaiah washington not only dropped the f-bomb, he outed T.R. Knight because of it, and then later in a GROUP emmys interview, he denied even saying it… and then dropped the f-bomb AGAIN… ON CAMERA. he then bitched at T.R. Knight publicly, saying he should have been fired.
(5) james caan (daddy) is a cool as shit bad ass… i think we can allow his son some leeway just once.
hells kitchen guy
Zack – he said it in a moment of anger. He apologized, and he wasn’t saying it to a gay man. Yea, it wasn’t nice, but what do you want him to do? Walk down Sunset Boulevard in a hair shirt, ripping out chest hair?
alan brickman
he will still walk “naked” around on his movie sets so i don’t care…
Puddy Katz
washington was a serial offender, he used the f word, at work and unprovoked, he outed someone, he made fun of using it in public.
this guy lost his temper at an asshole and immediately apologized.
also, he is rough trade.
hisurfer
I think that calling a pigeon the flying r- word was worse.
Gregg
Zack – get over yourself. Isaiah is a douche, regardless of race.
ger
Actually, I think Zack nailed it.

what a dumb ass, washington used the f-word in the heat of the moment when he was fighting that fool mcdreamy, so stop making excuses for caan. BE FAIR, you can’t complain ONLY when you HATE the person, HYPOCRITES

Because he is the pretty boy son of a famous movie star he has been allowed a career in the spotlight that millions of wannabes would die for – a career that has been undistinguished for the most part. Doubtless he grew up in the reflected glare of the paparazzi and could have chosen to pursue a less visible career. He knew what he was getting into so he should get over it.
Personally I’m appalled at all this rationalization that something said in anger is justifiable. I don’t think so. Rub someone the wrong way is the best way to get them “to stop being polite and start being real” (with apologies to the Real World).
Just because someone is pretty/handsome enough that you want to penetrate them doesn’t stop them from being an a**hole in the non-biological sense of the word.
Sexinthecity
Slipped out? That means the word is just sitting there, front of mind. To have to be aware of what you say — to hold pack prejudice, how sad.
Puddy Katz
johnosahon if you can’t see the difference between isaiah and this situation then there is something wrong with you. Stop the special pleading.
The ability to make distinctions is the mark of intelligence not of prejudice. Again, he called Knight a faggot while fighting with someone else! He made fun of the whole situation on tv after supposedly apologizing! And he used violence at work against a co-worker. That alone would get someone fired at most places of work.
hells kitchen guy
Alan – I never heard of this guy until this post. And the papparazzi are really annoying to these celebrities. Tehy invade their privacy. I can understand why someone would lose his temper.
Nighthawk
Why is GLAAD’s web site so ugly?
GMAN
Ha ha. Yeah he’s cute. Call me a faggot Scott please!!

#1. Isaiah Washington was a big deal because he was on the hit show “Grey’s Anatomy” at the time. Scott Caan… he’s in movies with David Arquette and James Van der Beek.
#2. So what if it just slips out? When I get angry at people, words slip out that I normally use. I have never had a totally foreign word slip out of my mouth. I’ve never called somebody a mooncricket on accident. I’ve never accidentally dropped the n-bomb. You know why? Because I don’t normally use those words. The fact that it just “slipped out” leads me to believe that it’s a common word in Mr. Caan’s vocabulary.

To poster Zack: Oh come on dude. Give that racist shit a rest already. Washington said what he said, period. He deserved to be shot down and kicked out. And yeah, he’s black. That should excuse him from being chastised for his actions? I don’t think so. What Scott Caan said is not right, but he didn’t say it directly to and as with anywhere near the hate and demeaning as Washington did. Truth is, Washington is not only a homophobe, but he’s a racist too!

I HATE YOU I AM NOT GAY BACAUSE I THINK YOU JUST A IDIOT CAUSE YOUR IMAGE IS LAID YOURCUTE VERY !*?$/I LOVE YOU YOU SMELL LIKE A SHIT
Paul
Would it have played on TMZ if he said nigger? Where is all the media for faggot? Where is Al Sharpton and everyone else.
Seth
@Zack: I did not see Isaiah Washington apologise for his appalling behaviour.
He is only interested in his sorry self.
I can’t say I feel for him.

In 1998, 23 year-old Scott Caan was arrested for a fight at a gay bar in West Hollywood, the Firehouse. It was reported then, that the whole shebang erupted when he got p.o.ed that a guy was being flirty with his date, a person named ‘Ross P.”. In fact, to confirm what seems to be true, BOTH of them were arrested, for being in that fight with another couple gents.
The good ole’ reliable “The Advocate” covered the story, in a round-about way, writing up an article about how best to handle closeted gay and lesbian actors; the article surmised that Scott Caan had ‘outed himself’ by getting himself into the news in that way, though the often-carried story was not always direct and blatant about the actual (gay) bar where the fight went down, or the actual gender of the ‘date’ Scott was with (he had a penis). It was well-reported, and what got me to follow his career long ago. I still sort of nervously giggle like Anderson when i see the film segment of Scott in the locker room scene in “Varsity Blues”, where he acts all jocular and fratty, and fakes going down on that guy from “Dawson’s Creek”, the ‘Van’ guy. You can see Scott’s junk in the movie, “Speed of Life”, yes, I own a copy, or its also goes by the alternative name,”Saturn”. Those pics of Scott’s package are easy to find as well, doing a simple search, or looking up the segment of him naked in ‘Speed of Life’. Yeah, I do think he’s the hottest thing ever, and i’ve enjoyed myself watching his proud display of his perfectly hot and hairy bod, and i’ll continue to do that, maybe even after i get off here. ^The article mentioned, in the Advocate, Nov 10, 1998. I really think, based on my own vast experience, that many young men,,thank God, go through conflicted feelings of admiration vs. a crush on a guy, and the whole deluge of hormones complicates the otherwise easy lines of gay vs straight sexuality. And that guys, as guys tend to do, get along better with other guys, the homosexuality factor is unleashed and unharnessed as well, I think. Either way, Scott was at a gay bar with a gay guy and got in a fight with two other gay guys, and his companion was a gay guy too. Suspicious? Should we care really, when he is not going to take that step soon, and spill the beans about what was up that night, or if he’s bi or gay himself. Like i said, sexuality is on a continuum, and people tend to get all romantic with people they click with in other ways, and with homosexuality no longer SO taboo, these straying into new waters is gonna happen.
We have a great friend and admirable talent in the gay person of Greg Araki, who could clear up this shcitte pretty quick, i bet. Scott Caan was an unknown young turk back when he played a supporting role in the Araki, gay-oriented movie, which the name escapes me now. Of course, it would be dumb and wrong to assume or guess that most or all of the actors in that film, were gay, or lgbt. That said, to me, Scott has always tried very hard to be a macho man like his dad, to the point where his real-life acting reads as played-up, and overly done for effect. He has just welcomed a daughter, with his (female) partner, but hell, Oscar Wilde, Steve Forbes and even Clay Aiken tried to slip out of public scrutiny, in a similar set-up, Clay with the child he wanted, and beat around the bush about whether or not he and the baby momma were an actual item themselves.
