In his younger days as one-third of The Jonas Brothers, the DNCE frontman was barred from talking about sex and romance, for obvious reasons.
“Hollywood Records were under Disney,” he tells NOTION, “and obviously just the age we were, we had to be careful with the certain things we wrote and said.”
We couldn’t be too sexual or romantic in certain ways. And that’s tough because at the same time you’re growing up and you want to write about these experiences you’re having as a young adult.”
Now being older, there’s new experiences that I get to have, or just as an adult, like touring and travelling… you go out for a few drinks after the show.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Jonas talks about his reinvention as your garden-variety, everyday, totally smoldering pop star, and his theoretically raunchy video for their new song, “Body Moves.”

How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
The below video takes a behind-the-scenes glance at his “School Spirit” shoot for the mag with photographer Jack Bridgland, where Jonas strikes some “moody, misunderstood, handsome rebel loner” poses in a series of sleeveless denim jackets and slinky sportswear.

I sure would like to know if that picture of him is suppose to be sexy. I feel sorry for the kid. He was the one who always looked sad, distant and just as though he would be whipped by his father if he didn’t get out there on that stage with his other equally talentless brothers.

Looking at this, I’m once again struck by how arbitrary and beyond our control our sexual tastes are. I would have killed/died for Nick (before he went overboard with the weights) but Joe might as well be a 70-year-old woman for all the sexual attraction he has for me. Not defending my taste as opposed to anyone else’s, just pointing out it’s just a mystery why we like what we like, even though each of us thinks it’s the most obvious thing in the world that our tastes are the right ones.
