“The 15-year-old boy charged with the Oxnard classroom gunshot death of a gay student has been given court permission to attend his father’s funeral. Ventura County Superior Court Judge James Cloninger ruled Monday that Brandon McInerney can temporarily leave juvenile hall for the funeral. The date for the private family service hasn’t been disclosed.” [AP]
King’s father Bill was found dead from blunt force trauma the day he was supposed to attend his son’s court date. Bill and King’s mother, Kendra, were recently sued by King’s parents for wrongful death.

Well, I guess that’s fair enough. Still, there’s nothing about the case that isn’t fucked up to some degree.

I think you mean McInerney’s father, not King’s? It’s like that twice in the 2d paragraph.

How could King’s mother sue King’s parents? Are you sure you got this right?

This is running like a Shakespearean tragedy. Terribly sad and terrible on so many levels.

@spb: Yeah….um, editors? Hello?

Even though the little boy who was killed was clearly “out there” he did not deserve to die like that. I have a friend who works with gay youth whose problems are so severe they can not attend regular high school because of their pshchological problems. He told me how well over half of them are destined to the streets or prisons because of their family background/upbringing.
Many of them come from abusive homes and their parents have domestic partner/drug problems and also were abused/neglected as children themselves. Some even have grandparents who were animals in human form.
This story is so sad. This little boy pictured here needed someone to vent his anger out on and seeing how it must have been his father who died of a blow to the head it sounds like he came from a violent background and acted accordingly.
