Singer Maluma is on a worldwide tour. For his homecoming show in Medellín, Colombia, he had a special treat for fans. He introduced Madonna to the stage for two songs at the finale of the show. The pair performed their duet, ‘Medellin’, followed by an encore of Madonna’s hit song, ‘Music’.
It all went down at the Estadio Atanasio Girardot on Saturday night (April 30) in front of an audience of around 54,000.

Madonna herself has not done a stadium tour since the Rebel Heart jaunt of 2016. The 2019 Madame X tour was a more intimate affair that visited theatres for premium-priced ticket holders, making this Madonna’s first performance in front of such a large audience in several years.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
The event was live-streamed on Amazon Prime and Amazon Music’s Twitch channel. Watch a clip below.
Here’s a shorter clip of the duo performing ‘Medellin’.
The singers last performed together at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards.
Afterward, Madonna took to Instagram to say, “Last night was so 🔥🔥🔥 in Medellin with @maluma ! Thank you Everyone!!! 💕💗💕💗💕💗!!!! 🇨🇴 🇨🇴 🇨🇴 Besitos 💋💋💋”

Madonna’s appearance at the concert prompted plenty of comments on the internet.
Many praised the singer for her energetic performance and relished seeing her back on stage.

Maluma is such a sweetheart. He has so much love and respect for Madonna, and it showed last night. He was a wonderful host and took great care of his guest.Madonna clearly likes him too, and apart from a couple of small hiccups, it went fine. Most importantly, they had fun.

The way Madonna only had a Major injury in 2020, 30 years in her career, and still pulled herself together and performed again two years later. Who cares if it wasn’t perfect, Maluma seemed happy to have her company. pic.twitter.com/TCbz3ItIe0

Another performer to come to her defense was Darren Hayes, formerly of Savage Garden.
The gay singer tweeted, “Madonna ‘fans’ who criticize her for daring to continue to perform in her (gasp) 60’s will apparently never age and are able to function at their peak physical ability for all eternity Madonna DGAF what you think of her. She is LIVING her life. What are they doing? Watching.”

Madonna: ENOUGH of the plastic surgery! You look like you are made of wax.
THAT Steve
I was hoping it was a filter so I could look like a younger version of me too
kish
The only criticism that I have is that she seems to lost the ability to trust her own creative process. She’s more concerned with being Ariana Grande’s peer, rather than someone who is ahead of her.
As for those who call her embarrassing for being sexual and in her 60s. Maybe it is too overt to seem natural, but also you should check your misogyny cause it’s showing.

Collaborating with other artists IS part of the creative process. Madonna is pop. Pop music consumers are predominantly young. To stay relevant in pop music, you need to discover new sounds and collaborate with other artists. If she wants to continue connecting with young people, she’s gonna have to adapt.

I’ll never understand why we get so wrapped up in the cult of personality. She sings, she dances, and she is very good at it… but to have her career affect your life like some of these people on Twitter is bizarre.
rover4x
don’t understand why ya’ll criticizing her like she should be looking or dancing like forever 21!!!! I think she is doing great at her age and least she still does not care what ya’ll thinking. She already done so much and is great seeing her time and just the way she always been.
smittoons
I don’t have any issue with her performing, with her still being overtly risqué and sexual etc. She’s earned the right to perform her art however she wants to, and ageism is a very Madonna barrier to try to quash.
But my god, the plastic surgery is out of control. Just 3 years ago when this song came out it didn’t look bad, but now she’s had so many fillers she doesn’t even have a frown line. She looks like a Bratz Doll on its way to becoming Jocelyn Wildenstein.
Also, what was up with the audio setup? They were basically singing to their studio tracks. Either let them sing live or fully lip sync, this was a weird call.
jackscott
I’ve always been a fan of Madonna. However, I wish she would continue to perform but not try to be 20, those days are behind her. She has more to offer, just stop with the fillers, etc. Find a sound and look that continues your legacy.
richybruce
Totally agree.

The haters are the same type that would criticize any gay guy over the age of 40 from dare showing their face at a gay club or any social event. In their narrow world, by that time you should either be at home kitting or simply invisible. I guess the very presence of older people performing or existing within sight reminds them that they too are getting older.
surfnspy
Love her, she’s still the queen.
But it is a little sad to see her trying so hard to be “young”. The plastic surgery looks so strange–that caboose! The taut face! She’s tip toeing toward Jocelyn Wildenstein which is just so strange to watch happen.
And I don’t think she’s actually singing, is she?
There’s something a little desperate about it all when she could just enjoy being the icon that she is. Is it insecurity? Not sure. But if she’s having a good time and feels good with all of that extra work, well, then carry on I suppose.
SoloMcDaniel
Maybe it’s the outfit but she looks shorter. I get she’s not 21 anymore but the grinding on Maluma looked awkward and painful for her.
SDR94103
malooma sucks.
richybruce
Honestly, she looks like a fat drunk Housewife of Beverly Hills trying to keep up with her teenage kid.
Max
it’s like when g-ma went to the clubs and let loose.
jc555
The plastic surgery. The bad lip syncing. The awkward dancing. Maybe age with some dignity.
bachy
Madonna has made the entire world dance and sing with 30 years of brilliant pop music, dance and spectacle! I once read that she has had over 8 hernia surgeries from injuries resulting from grueling and repetitive choreographic routines. Add the recent hip surgery and what are probably a host of health issues we know nothing of.
My impression is that she is struggling with private health issues, the effects of which are difficult to hide when onstage in front of millions expecting nothing short of her usual perfection. The very biggest pop stars – Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, George Michael – went through the same debilitating phase at the latter stages of their careers. I worry about her.
Madonna’s music is the soundtrack of my youth. I am grateful that she is still singing and dancing – and will always be a fan.
CNY1983
so agree with you. you can see the effort onstage, not because shes 60 or 160, something is off and robotic. not fluid but shes trying to be. I would agree also that when youre trying to be a peer to someone half your age youre fighting a losing battle.
there’s something “elephant-man” about face-filler addicts. it looks like all that “gel” hurts while dragging it around with maluma onstage in front of 60 thousand people. Yeah, it looks good on instagram with filters when your laying down madonna, but watching it onstage was making me seasick.
no disrespect to the judds, but i didnt even recognize them yesterday.
brodine
Madonna and i are the same age
She quite frankly looks stupid and it is a shame. She is so ashamed of her age that she makes a fool out of her self. She is the ageist one because she keeps fighting this losing battle to look like anything except her actual age. I know lots of women our age who look fantastic even with their wrinkles. And the way she moves on stage is just sad to watch. You can tell she is in pain. You can tell she has been choreographed to move as little as possible but still when she rises from the floor you can see it in her posture. She could be something fantastic and unique right now – blazing a trail. Instead she continues making a fool of herself. I hate it.
There is no fool like an old fool and yes, she is old.
tomch52
We’ve all had our time in the sun! But am I going to pay bucks for an ageing, overweight, low energy, autotune performer who should’ve retired &;rested on her laurels? Hell no! I’d spend the money to see the true performer, Tina Turner and/or Cher!
Jim
There’s not much sadder then an old media whore.
RTG
Her face! She talks about agism? She looks like a blow up doll. That has to be hell to keep up because those fillers aren’t permanent. I did look at all the video clips. In one it looks like she was about to take a tumble after reaching out for Meluma. There are ways of aging gracefully and still performing gracefully and this ain’t it. And yes, she was the sound track of my 20’s and all that stuff. Regardless, she either needs to stop youth chasing or retire.
