He’s not quite the “cannibal cop” but a Maryland police officer has been suspended after he was accused of secretly installing a video camera in the boy’s bathroom at Glen Burnie High School.
A male student initially discovered the cam wedged in the top corner of the lavatory and reported it to the principal on Wednesday. “We do not know that the officer’s intentions were,” Lt. T.J. Smith explained. “That’s an important issue that we’re trying to get to the bottom of.”
Gee, maybe he was just trying to capture some of those nasty trans people who are apparently stalking bathrooms.
School officials confirm the surveillance was unauthorized but insist it was an isolated incident: “The principal ordered staff to look at every single bathroom in all of the buildings in Glen Burnie High School, all the locker rooms, all the team rooms, all those places to make sure there were no other cameras, no other recording devices,” said Anne Arundel County Schools Public Information Officer Bob Mosier. “Those sweeps yesterday and this morning turned up nothing.”
Yesterday, a spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Police told WJZ TV that the officer, whose name is being kept confidential, is on paid leave pending a criminal investigation.

I think he was looking for in the bathroom what I was looking for in the bathroom in high school…………………
DonW
Hey, Queerty editors, it’s spelled “boys’ bathroom” — presumably it’s used by multiple boys. “Boy’s bathroom” is singular — a bathroom that belongs to one boy.
Good punctuation counts!
a) A woman without her man is nothing.
b) A woman: without her, man is nothing.

@DonW: Oh yeah.
C.) Woman! without, her man; is? nothing.

Tell “a” to the lesbian readers

How presumptuous to believe it was not for the obvious reason by the community and police…Geez, just people’s kids were at risk. Gotta love when cops get paid leave for strictly violating their own procedures…called the law.

@dkmagby:
I found that odd as well. It sounds like a vacation, not a punishment.
Cee
Paid leave?
Really??
An Officer of the fukn LAW installed a camera ILLEGALLY in the boys bathroom at a school and has not been terminated?
I don’t care why he did it. He bought the camera on his own dime and installed it ILLEGALLY without the police departments knowledge?
And now he’s on paid leave?
You have to be fukn kiddin me!
Mikey
And this is on Queerty because…?
Seriously, what’s with all of the pedo stories that keep getting posted here? Is Queerty trying to tell us something? Honest question. I’m getting tired of seeing these pedo stories here…they have nothing to do with being LGBT.
Cam
Why would the media pretend they don’t know why the camera was installed?
If the cop had put it in the women’s bathroom at the high school they wouldn’t be sitting there going “Gee, we’ll have to try to figure out why it was there.”
Kieran
Lucky for this guy he’s just a Police Officer and not a Catholic priest. Then it would be a major scandal and front page news.
Ganymede
Well, considering he hasn’t actually been proven guilty of anything yet, it would be a bit hasty to fire him. Due procedure and all that. Paid leave seems like a sensibly measured response.

@DonW:
So Don… when the kids get older… what room do they go to?
Is it the Men’s room?
or perhaps The Mans room?
or the Men room (that sounds Asian to me)
or perhaps the mens room
soon it will not matter I guess it will be the Unisex room
DonW
@JAW: I’m always disappointed when the “Rest Room” doesn’t have nice couches to take a nap on.
RomanHans
Just to confirm — yes, if this man wasn’t a police officer, his name would be released to the press.

The men’s room.
This is the same pattern as “the people’s right to know”

@hf2hvit: That’s only for the women who want and need a man, not the lesbians.
Greg
Boys bathroom. Isn’t it? It’s just the bathroom used by boys, none of the boys own it. It’s not their own bathroom.
Greg
@Cam: But what was he trying to see wedging it in the top corner of the restroom? Strange.
