Did you know that Madonna and Tupac Shakur were an item for three years? The reason the relationship eventually went kaput is now revealed in a recently discovered letter written by the wrapper. He penned the note while he was serving time at Clinton Correctional Facility for sexual assault.

Tupac repeatedly apologizes in the letter, claiming he never maent to hurt her and asking if they can still be friends. He says that he decided to write her the letter becauase he wanted her to know his feeling “in case anything happened” to him:

“For you to be seen with a black man wouldn’t in any way jeopardize your career, if anything it would make you seem that much more open and exciting. But for me at least in my previous perception I felt due to my ‘image’ I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was.”

The entire letter will be going up for auction at Gotta Have Rock and Roll, an event being held from July 19 to July 28.

An earlier letter written by Tupac wound up being sold for over $170K, and the starting bid for this one is $170K.
