On April 20, gay Star Trek fans—and those who just think out Trek star George Takei is the bees knees—gathered at the Church for All Nations in midtown Manhattan, where artwork inspired by and featuring Takei was auctioned at the first-ever Takei Back the Night. A unique tribute to Takei on his 75th birthday, the event raised funds for Geeks OUT!, a LGBT community devoted to celebrating sci-fi and pop culture’s queer characters, creators, performers and themes.

How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

+1000 for Queerty on this post. I am loving how diverse this crowd is!!! You don’t see that much in popular media these days–it is boys vs girls, masc vs femme, steroids vs twinks vs bears vs average.
Please cover more events like these, where people are clothed and enjoying one another’s company for good causes. The heavy protest stuff can take a back seat every once in a while for something with a little more soul than a new nightclub party or something full of sweaty, half-naked apes.
Again, +1000 coin for Queerty.

George Takei is my favourite Treckie and this looks like a great cause. Well done folks.

Thanks for posting this. I did think about going since I do like Sci Fi, Star Trek, and Takei.

A gay event with a diverse crowd…and still no black people! LMAO…maybe “Girls” is right about the most cultural city in the country being fairly white.
