New York City tasted the rainbow at Gay Pride on Sunday, as an estimated 1.5 million people watched the 43nd annual LGBT Pride March sashay along Fifth Avenue in Midtown down to Greenwich Street in the West Village. Joining grand marshals Cyndi Lauper (above), Chris Salgardo (President of Keihl’s, Inc.) and Phyllis Siegel and Connie Kopelov (the first NYC couple to wed under New York State’s year-old marriage-equality law) were contingents from dozens of nonprofits, community groups and corporations, including Housing Works, GLAAD—who hosted lesbian Boys Scouts leader Jennifer Tyrrell and actor-activist George Takei—HRC, Occupy Wall Street, Big Apple Softball, Coca-Cola, GMHC, ACT UP, NORML, Bank of America and many more. Mayor Michael Bloomberg made an appearance at the parade as did newly married City Council Chair Christine Quinn, Representatives Jerry Nadler and Carolyn Mahoney and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and others.

Cyndi is as relevant now as she has ever been! Such a talent on stage, on CD’s and in the “real” word which we all live!
Great to see that she took time to do the parade and festival in New York.

p.s. little known fact, she was Grand Marshall for the 2012 KY Derby Pegasus Parade this year!
