Well, here’s a shocker: Eminem is putting out more music that’s insulting the gays and lesbians (and everyone).
This is nothing new, of course. The irritating singer has been putting out awful antigay music for years. But here’s the new twist with his latest song: he seems to say that he’ll “fight for gay rights” or something. Here’s the line:
“But I may fight for gay rights, especially if the dyke is more of a knockout than Janay Rice. Play nice?”
What? Okay. Sure. Go ahead, Eminem, tell us all about how you fight for gay rights. Please, regale us with stories of all the important work you’ve done. Share with us your long, illustrious history of fighting for equality.

And I’ll stab you in the head, whether you’re a fag or les…” or from a 2013 song, “I’ll still be able to break a motherfuckin’ table over the back of a couple of faggots and crack it in half.”
So, this isn’t exactly something new. He’s been getting away with it for more than a decade.
By way of an excuse, he told Rolling Stone that he interprets words like “faggot” and “gay-looking” to mean “bitch or a punk or asshole,” just a general insult. That is a great explanation! How nice of him to explain that he doesn’t mean to insult gays, he just means to insult other people by associating them with gays! Nice guy.
At this point, we don’t expect Eminem to turn over a new leaf and start being nice. (Or talented.) This is just who he is, a mean and unpleasant jerk.

I’ll preface this by saying I’m not an Eminem apologist, nor would I ever think he’s The Greatest Rapper Ever.
However, those looking to discredit him by saying he was never really relevant and/or is untalented, I have to say it ain’t true. The man has sold an unbelievable amount of records, has worked with/influenced a shit ton of his peers (and successors), and has so many Grammys/#1 albums the head spins. This is not to say he’s the best ever, it’s just to say—yes, he was (and still is) a very important figure in public consciousness.
I mention this only because people often have this way of trying to attack someone by yelling “Oh, well you’re not that good ANYway!” Most of the time it’s not true, nor does it matter. Cut someone down because they’re an asshole, not because you think you can make yourself feel better by diminishing someone else’s importance (which you can’t). Eminem is a great artist. Unfortunately, he’s also a douchebag. You can critique the latter while still accepting the former (Kanye West, anyone?). Just don’t kid yourself into thinking Eminem won’t (for better or worse) go down as one of the biggest artists of all time.
With all that said–F**k Eminem’s longstanding homophobia. It’s time for him to cut that ish out.

I don’t think faggot is necessarily an anti-gay slur. Gay people can exhibit the traits to justifiably called a faggot. Straights do regularly get called fag. Treach called his father a fag for never showing up when he was a child and RuPaul said that was the accurate way to use the term. It’s a huge error to say that even when you call a straight man a faggot that you are associating him with gays. Now Eminem saying “fag or les” is definitely associating “fag” with gays, but then I wouldn’t be a fan of Eminem’s in the first place.
