Richard Blackwell, the fashion critic who once called Madonna “The Bare-Bottomed Bore of Babylon,” died this Sunday of intestinal complications at the age of 86. He founded the Ten Worst Dressed Women list, was a semi-popular fashion designer, and (literally) wrote the book on fashion disasters.
If life was a Russian novel by Gogol or Dostoevsky, it would come as no surprise that such an acidic tongue would ultimately be silenced by an infection of the bowels.

He was my neighbor when I lived in the Larchmont district…and used to cruise me rather intently at the Rite Aid.
Of course, he was quite old and his eyesight was probably failing…
