Richard Simmons Gets His Hurr Did In New “Hairdo” Music Video

Just when you think you know what the Song of the Summer is, fitness Queen Richard Simmons comes along with a brand new song that makes “Blurred Lines” and “Get Lucky” sound like the ABC’s. Stop fighting over “Applause” and “Roar”, because “Hairdo” is where it’s at.

Simmons’ new single has been a long time coming, and it’s the first from a forthcoming album. Could it be the beginning of a long, illustrious drag career?

Some pretty deep lyrics here:

short , long , straight or curly
get something cute, get something girly

vidal sassoon styled mia farrow

jose eber gave such flair
he coiffed barbra streisand and the lovely cher

    This is… just… nauseating.

    Apparently he’s never come out.

He’s adorable and you’re all sour grapes!

  • yaoming

A little repetitive. Could have used more than two lines repeated over and over.

OMG! What has the world come to? LOLOLOL

    What the hell was that?

It’s too close to call which I’m less interested in: Richard Simmons news or Nick Gruber news.

Oh com’n now, that was a fun little video. So many sour pusses here.

This is a fine example of growing older with grace and humor. He’s wearing his age comfortably rather than trying to be young and pretty, and he’s tapping into a long tradition of gay humor, and doing it well.

For those who don’t appreciate his current work – you have the comedy equivalent of being tone-deaf or color-blind, and you have my sympathy for that. There’s no way to explain magenta to someone who can only see shades of grey.

@Homophile: @homophile – his every move and every camp intonation has said “fuck you” to homophobes everywhere, for decades. I don’t know if he’s ever said “I’m gay”, but he’s been a force for change we should all be grateful for, whether or not we identify with his public persona. Countless straight women (and probably fewer straight men, but a significant number of them anyway) have decided gay people were ok in part because they liked Richard Simmons so much.

@Homophile: I think this video makes it pretty clear.

I wish he’d come out and admit he’s straight.
