In light of the horrific news that John McCain would consider former Georgia Governor and Homeland Security honcho Tom Ridge as a vice-presidential candidate, Philadelphia Gay News publisher Mark Segal offers a look at Ridge’s long history of anti-gay politics. [PGN]
Rigid Ridge.

Former Pennsylvania governor.
Ted B. (Charging Rhino)
I’m not so-sure that Ridge is a “anti-gay” as Mark Seagal might portray him as. Mark has had a personal axe to grind with Tom Ridge for decades.
CHURCHILL-Y
He’s not. Loves the idea.

Birds of a feather flock together.

Ridge has a funny lisp.

Mueller you shouldn’t discount what Ted said. Ridge isn’t as bad as Segal portrays him (btw, I’m from PA). You need to study Segal. He has a long history with Ridge and state politics that even pre-date the street/katz fiasco he got wrapped up in. It’s unfortunate in glbt Philly because the PGN is not much more than a mouthpiece for its pompous publisher and we lack a real voice for our community here.

Yeah, former Pennsylvania governor, not Georgia governor. Minor detail. You know, sixth most populous state. Swing state. Minor detail, Queerty.
Jim
Pennsylvania Governor, not GA.
jarvisbearcub
Sorry, but I also must chime in. He was the governor of PA.
Charles J. Mueller
Joe, I must confess that I really don’t know all that much about Ridge.
My comment was flip and I probably should have done a little more research on him before posting it.
My apologies if any sensitivities were trod upon.
Rob Moore
If he was the Republican governor of Georgia, which we all agree he isn’t, we would be going back to the days when vice presidents were seen and not heard. The Republican governor here, Sonny Perdue, is as much an idiot as Bush. The only firm position he takes on anything is neutering dogs (he is a licensed vet), cutting education funding (because Georgia can’t sink any lower), and no alcohol sales on Sunday.
