Actor Tim Curry has been trending on Twitter over the last day or so. Of course, whenever an elderly celebrity trends, people are always quick to fear the worst. However, in this case, it was for little more than a celebration of the iconic performer.
Firstly, someone tweeted that you can tell a learn a lot about a person depending on which role they best remember Tim Curry for.

Incredibly, although you might only be able to name half a dozen of them, IMDB lists him with 240 acting credits. His roles straddle the decades, starting with The Rocky Horror Picture Show in the mid-70s, via Annie, Legend (with Tom Cruise), Clue, Congo, The Hunt For Red October, and the original clown in the TV version of It.

Is there another answer besides “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”?

Rocky Horror, obviously. But didn’t fully appreciate him until he was the devil in Legend. Terrible movie but he was awesome. pic.twitter.com/pg7a8cgMG8

Curry sadly suffered a major stroke in 2012, leaving him using a wheelchair. Much of his work over the last dozen years has been as a voiceover actor. His absence on screen has mistakenly led some people to believe he’s no longer with us.
This was something a parody Tim Curry account was yesterday quick to remind people was not the case ahead of the great man’s 76th birthday tomorrow.
19th April 2022 is my 76th birthday. I may or may not ‘trend’ on this hellsite and thus multitudes of morbid meatheads will assume I’m dead.
Please RT to spread the word that I am not currently planning to be dead on Tuesday.
Much love x

Here’s wishing Mr Curry the very happiest of birthdays!

Tim Curry was a great character actor. I liked him best in the Rocky horror picture show of course. Plus the original scary clown and Legend he was great in.
JessPH
He will always be remembered as Dr Frank N Furter.
Thank goodness RHPS was filmed in the 1970s when woke culture didn’t exist and cisgender actors like Mr Tim Curry can still portray transvestites.
Bosch
But a transvestite is just a cross-dresser. You can be a cisgender transvestite.

It is a song. A transitive predicate for transgression, if you will. Transcend your trepidation. Tranquility awaits.
Worry less about wokeness. Maybe take a nap.

Most of you probably don’t know that Tim is also a great Broadway actor. His performance as Alan Swann in the musical version of MY FAVORITE YEAR was fantastic. It’s a vastly underrated Broadway musical from 1992 that I continue to listen to and love: written by Lynn Ahrens & Stephen Flaherty (RAGTIME, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND), also featuring the fabulous Andrea Martin and Lainie Kazan, with Evan Pappas, Josh Mostel, Katie Finneran and others. I’ll never understand why it only lasted 2 months at Lincoln Center. Tim was flawless…

He also played Mozart in the Broadway version of Amadeus against Salieri Ian McKellen (which Ian won a Tony for the role).

I grew up with Tim Curry on my screen. Long John Silver in the muppet treasure island. Home Alone 2, 3 Musketeers, Furngully. And if course Rocky Horror

I also loved him in “Clue”, a delightfully stupid movie that he was great in! He even named it in an interview as one of his favorites! It must’ve been a hoot to rehearse with that cast.
scotty
would could forget his debut album with ” i do the rock?” catch little ditty

He did a movie titled ‘Blue Money ‘. It was a TV movie ( circa 1985 per IMDb)that I watched late one night. He plays a London cabbie and drives a mob bag man to money drop off /pick up spots – bars, clubs, diners, etc. He makes the rash decision to steal the cash and takes off to Ireland. Whereupon he is being pursued by the Mobsters and the IRA !!! Those underground types do network..”Blue Money” is one of the wackiest, off the wall , light hearted romps I’ve ever viewed.. I’ve searched EVERYWHERE for any DVD /streaming download..Alas, not to be had…
