President Obama has confirmed he phoned athlete Jason Collins yesterday to offer his admiration and support for publicly coming out as gay yesterday, adding that he “couldn’t be prouder.”
“One of the extraordinary measures of progress we’ve seen in this country is the recognition that the LGBT community deserves full equality, not just partial equality, not just tolerance but a recognition that they’re fully part of the American family,” he said.
“I think for a lot of young people out there who are gay or lesbian and struggling with these issues to see a role model like that who is unafraid is a great thing,” he added.
We predict it won’t be long until Collins is invited to the White House for a friendly game of pickup.
How about we take this to the next level?

It’s strange to think that when the 20th professional sports player finally comes out, he’ll wonder where his publicity is, but by then it’ll be a big yawn. Quite logically, that day waits in our future too.

Is anyone a little disturbed that our sexuality has been reduced down to political
pandering? Personally, I don’t really need to be validated by a president or any other
politician.

@MarioSmario: We’ve been hearing sh*t about us from politicians for so long, that I, for one, welcome the change in political climate. May it grow deeper and spread all over the world!

@MarioSmario: Trust me, you’ll miss the “political pandering” once the next republican makes it to the White House.

@DOFEK: What’s your solution to Muslim extremism?
Pretending that Christians are the real enemy to your gay lifestyle so that
you don’t have to face a politically incorrect truth is hardly helping matters. BTW, if non-gay Christians
ever read these message boards, I’d be surprised if they didn’t become radically
anti-gay if they weren’t already. Keep spreading the blind hatred.
