THE SHOT — As Queerty was the first to report (and TMZ the first to steal our report), Chely Wright is definitely your May 5 coming-outer. Now this week’s worst kept secret, home furnishers Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams uploaded to Facebook this snap with Wright at People‘s “surprise party,” with mention of her upcoming profile in the magazine. She’s been off the radar for five years… when she was releasing CD’s, she was doing pretty well. I’m not sure what the reason for her hiatus was, but I am glad that she feels comfortable enough to come out. She is bold for being a country singer who, on the cusp of dropping an album, came out. That particular industry isn’t the kindest towards the homosexual people. I do have to say that I liked her hit songs, and I have a couple of her albums. I’m not a huge country fan.
I do find it sad that pecause people are discovering that it isn’t somebody big and beautiful (or dumb and cute) they must be whiney little brats who try to marginalized the importance of her message: I’m queer, I’m here… get used to it. (oh yea… and buy my book) Who cares what the motive is: many on here are like “Celebrities need to come out… blah blah blah…” but I guess y’all should add on there… “unless they are irrelevant… because we don’t want them!”
Kudos to Chely.

Be nice if some celeb came out during their fame rather than ten years past their prime.
