"Thirty-four couples have signed up on Salt Lake City's domestic partner registry. The registry began six months ago. Most of those who have signed up are same-sex couples… According to the 2007 census survey, there are 18,358 households headed by unmarried partners in Salt Lake County, including 1,644 same-sex pairs."
