What gives us hope about the gay rap industry: Hip hop music video traditions are alive and well. From J.r.’s “Will U Marry Me Boy,” the chase for true love is on. Ocean? Check! NYC skyline? Check! Ice? Check! But where are the Lamborghinis?
Oh here they are, in alleged bisexual hip-hopista Nicki Minaj’s “Massive Attack”:
The major record companies will not allow a male singer to market himself as gay or bisexual in his music videos. This is a fact that has, til now, been hidden from the public. However, these same companies will allow a female singer to market herself in this way, particularly if it’s bisexual.
I think the GLBT community needs to mobilize itself against the record companies by naming and shaming the companies and the heads who are behind this homophobic and sexist double standard.

I admire JR for his attempt, (i’ve commended him on it before) but it isn’t very good. If at all.
