Jim Glaub + Dylan Parker Still Don’t Know Why They’re Receiving Santa’s Mail

Makeshift Santas Jim Glaub and Dylan Parker, the gay Manhattan couple who received 400 children’s letters addressed to St. Nick this year, tell MSNBC that “each [letter] has a completely different message … and they’re all really, really special. I think the point of saturation is just in how you feel. The kind of overwhelming response that happens when you read them.”

I honestly don’t understand this story. I mean it is cute and sweet but why the hell is the postal worker deviling them? Can’t somebody just ask their mailman “why are you putting letters addressed to Santa at the North Pole in their mailbox?”

The mystery is that the letters are addressed to Santa but not at the North Pole. They’re addressed to they guys’ apartment. Weird. Check out the NYT video. It’s awesome. http://video.nytimes.com/video/2010/12/24/nyregion/1248069482199/miracle-on-22nd-street.html?scp=2&sq=santa%20chelsea&st=cse

I heard somewhere that there used to be a Letters to Santa program run out of the exact same apartment… on EAST 22nd St. (They live on West 22nd St.) So the parents of these kids are probably thinking of this (now-defunct) program, but getting the address slightly wrong. My guess is, many more letters are sent to the correct address, and thrown out.
