A video has surfaced of a (partially out of context) highlight reel from one of Kirk Cameron’s appearances on a wing-nut Christian channel called The Way Of The Master Television that is disturbing even by his standards.
“If we fail to be blunt and straightforward about that sin, we’re doing a disservice to our gay friends.”
And which gay friends are those, Kirk?
The mission statement to the groundbreaking Way Of The Master ministry which Cameron cofounded in 2002 includes this sage wisdom:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
“150,000 people die every 24 hours—most without the Savior. We are deeply concerned that so few Christians reach out to the lost. Statistics show that this is as low as 5%.”
The video is to help good Christian Evangelical folk learn how to witness to someone who is gay, and it’s full of truly terrible advice.
Cameron released a film called Saving Christmas: Putting The Christ Back In Christmas last weekend. So there’s also that to look for.
Watch here:
Trippy
Well isn’t that a special kind of crazy. He makes Scientology look sane in comparison.
NiceNCool1
Fuck his “savior”.

Christ never said a word about gays. Christ spoke fervently against divorce. This thumper only focuses on gays. Why is that? Oh, the hate dollars won’t roll in unless they beat the bigot horse bloody.
Harley
Jesus H Christ what a moron. He sure is obsessed with the gay folks. Sounds like he’s got a little internalized homophobia going on. Come on Kirk. Was your anal experience THAT traumatic?
jason smeds
There is nothing in the Bible which prohibits homosexual feelings.
Paul Nadolski
The one who’s in for a big surprise when he dies is Mr. Cameron.
tsmithknox
I wish he would fight that homosexual demon internally and leave the well adjusted people alone.
1EqualityUSA
Oh, and it specifies in Deuteronomy CJ5 of the MGB Bible that thou shalt not drive a convertible with the top down and the windows up. It’s an abomination. Your children and your children’s children will be cursed with geek.
Gothrykke
Wow, queen certainly hates herself. Kirk, hunty, get help.
Saint Law
Cameron has one of those faces you’d never tire of punching.
Desert Boy
Kirk Cameron is clearly mentally ill. What he says or thinks is of no consequence to me.
lykeitiz
Would someone please put a d&ck in her mouth and shut her up?
Roan
My wish would be for Mike Seaver to meet Jesus ASAP and find out for himself.
demented
@1EqualityUSA: And even if people weren’t his followers or had sinned, Jesus still treated them with love, respect and tolerance. His actions were also wildly scandalous in his time, exactly the sort of thing that the Camerons of the world would have been horrified at. I mean, he actually treated women as equals! He TALKED to them!
They had people like Cameron in Judaea two thousand years ago. They were prissy, uptight, letter of the law kind of people who hated Jesus.
muscl954
What a f**king whack job.
tlarson
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph on a pogo-stick! I need a bottle of visine after watching that.
jimmycurry01
@Paul Nadolski: No, unfortunately people like this never get that final surprise. He’ll just rot in a box and that is it.
Xzamilio
There’s nothing in the bible that prohibits a LOT of things. That book is primitive iron age nonsense, written by ignorant people who had no concept of human rights or basic science. So their arguments, coupled with counterarguments about how the bible says this or doesn’t say that is just pointless conjecture.
Combating superstition with superstition is like trying to dry a wet floor by peeing on it.
Xzamilio
@demented: Okay, settle down, dude. Unless you have some other account of Jesus’s life outside of the Gospels, then you’re being hyperbolic, because the Jesus character didn’t say anything that profound nor was he some peace-loving hippie the way progressive Christians try to paint him out to be. I’ve read the Gospels… I have to say, it’s just a train of bad thoughts that overlap and don’t really form a cohesive structure to the life of some supposed son of a god (who is himself) for which there is no evidence that he ever even existed. I mean, I know these are people’s beliefs, but when you present them on a public forum, you get the horns with the rest of the bull
jwtraveler
Seems like a typical Christian to me, just more vocal about his prejudices and hatred.
Milk
Congratulation is due for someone who manage to out whore Kim Kardashian. This has been career was over decades ago and manage to find a paying job to spew hatred at the LBGT community. I wonder how far back he bend over on his conscience to be this way.
fredo777
That video is clearly not put out by Kirk Cameron, seeing as it includes a song with cursing in it at the end. Pretty sure that would not have been deemed appropriate, all things considered. Not to mention that “I’m gay” declaration he awkwardly makes toward the end of the video. Besides which, he never actually said “God hates fags…” as a declarative statement. He was talking about how some so-called evangelists approach gay persons hatefully, but Kirk believes you should approach gays the same as anyone else you’re trying to spread the gospel to. That all said, I’m not supporting or defending Kirk, in general, but I think it’s only fair that we judge him for what he’s actually done.
1EqualityUSA
He still drove a convertible with the top down and windows up…tsk.
Trippy
Now this is the kind of guy old Andy Cohen should be outing… and not Kevin Spacey.
evdanker
It’s nice to know that someone knows just what god is thinking. It amazes me that Christians believe they are the only people on the planet, that they can decide for everybody else what to believe, and especially that so many of them are so full of hate and bigotry.
Jacovisio
If we stopped publicizing this nut job I would feel a little less annoyed that the only place i ever see him discussed is in the LGBT media. Let me feel good about who I am in stead of reminding me every once in a while that jerk like this still exist. Thank You
dm10003
I don’t believe in sin and hell, but I do believe that you Mr. Cameron have filthy manners.
Foggytop
@ Trippy Andy Cohen absolutely should be outing Kevin Spacey… as well as this little creep.
gjg64
Who the hell is Kirk Cameron?
Jacovisio
as child actor he played in a sitcom called Growing Pains. from 1985 into the early 90’s
McShane
No one is even going to mention that Kirk Cameron drives a convertible Volvo?
In San Francisco? Uhhhh…
Saint Law
@Trippy: Thanks for reminding us that Kevin Spacey is gay.
DuMaurier
When I read the article quoting Cameron saying “God hates gay people. God hates fags and you’re going to hell”, I was pretty sure the video would show him saying that as an example of how NOT to approach gay people (yes, he’s a homophobe, but that isn’t his style), and I was set to blame Queerty’s comprehension skills. But the video is so poorly edited that it actually can be taken as him endorsing that approach, even though his tone makes it clear that my first interpretation was right. But given the editing I have to give Queerty a semi-pass this time.

GOD IS FAKE
michaelmt1009
WOW I just don’t even know how to respond to something this stupid. Everyone should pray for Kirk, he really needs the help.
PARKAVMAN
Mike Seaver’s best friend in much of the show was ‘Boner’. He left the show to go join the Army when they graduated high school. Maybe Kirk got him fired because he couldn’t be around anything so sinful as a boner.
Alan down in Florida
I don’t know about anyone else but the God I believe in does not hate.
Sebizzar
What a disgusting person (and the guy with him too of course).
redcarpet30
Seems like he’s just parroting what that Ray Comfort asshole spews out.
andy0529
@lykeitiz: Trust me somebody all ready has, and in his ass too!
andy0529
My mother who a was a SSG in the Korean War told me this “Anybody that worried about gay people is a gay person”…..and that was 30 yrs ago.
RobertMfromLI
Wpw, did everyone miss the most important part of the video?!?!
LISTEN TO THE END…
Kirk Cameron: “I’m gay” at 1:55.
interlynx
He is just a Z-list has-been celebrity just trying anything he can do to get back in thr limelight. Sad he needs to do it at the expense of other people.
troublemaker
Is it wrong that I think he’s cute and want to get with him?
1EqualityUSA
Volva???!!! He strikes me as the Sebring type. Still, top down, windows up…. even riding in a Volva cannot change geekdom.

“Sell crazy someplace else we’re all stocked up here.”.
Thank you Jack Nicholson and As Good As It Gets.
Atomicrob
I don’t now why you give this guy a voice here . . . He is clearly a disturbed religious zealot, compensating for some unconscious, unresolved conflicts. He’s way too focused on all things gay. It’s the classic Freudian defense mechanism of projection totally in play.
demented
@Xzamilio: Um, I didn’t say what he said. I just said that his recounted actions were things that would have been considered scandalous and shocking at the time, in a sexist society dominated by a slightly less sexist society, and that sociopolitical groups that opposed him had the same kind of viewpoints that Cameron voices here: hate, judgement, cruelty.
And yes, there is IS evidence that he existed, in records of the time. Not a lot, but research reveals that there is.
And the gospels aren’t a narrative by definition. The entire Bible is mostly just an intermittent historical record, with the OT having some requirements for cultural distinctiveness. The NT is a lot of the same, with four different guys giving different, non-comprehensive accounts. I’m not sure what your point is.
lehnhce
Ok, I will be 100% honest. This video was edited to appear as offensive as possible. 1st of all, the person who wrote this article has the channel wrong. The TV show was called Way of the Master, the channel that this broadcast on was actually many different channels. Second, I grew up watching this show. I remember this episode, and he was actually saying that those statements of hate were not ok and was saying that no one should say those things. I really wish people on both sides, lgbt and Christian would fact check before posting things that lead to further division. I am a gay male who doesn’t agree with Kirk on quite a few issues, but this lack of research and bad editing doesn’t help build bridges. This actually makes us as a community look very ignorant. Kirk has a moral issue with homosexuality, fine. That is his deal. But I know for a fact he doesn’t follow a Westboro Baptist mindset. Smh.
azpunky
So he believes the same things the Westboro Baptist Church believe. He’s not holding up picket signs, he’s making these toxic videos and peddling them online. I wonder if he’s aiming for an anchor job at the 700 Club? I can’t watch any of it.
james_in_cambridge
Kirk is a total nut but this video was edited by the uploader in an attempt to be funny and ironic (and he fails), like when Kirk “comes out” @1:55 mark. He didn’t actually say the offensive words about us either; there was a cut right before he said ’em so he was probably saying how they shouldn’t approach us in that judgemental manner.
Yuck! I feel dirty defending the bastard even in this minimal way!
james_in_cambridge
@lehnhce: I said the same thing but you know what the problem is? It’s that people like Kirk are so hateful that at some point, we don’t want to hear or watch any more from them so a lot of us just take the poster’s word for it. Which is often a mistake on Queerty; the editors here have the questionable morals of, well, a Kirk Cameron!
jwtraveler
If you get hysterical every time some idiot says something stupid, you will walk around in a constant state of hysteria. Relax, don’t worry about these lunatics. Focus on people who really have some power, like the lunatics who are about to take over the U.S. Congress. They could really do some harm.
1EqualityUSA
James_in_cambridge, I agree that it’s not fair to edit this guy’s video to present his words out of context. To be honest, I didn’t really cue in that much, except for his having driven with the top down and windows up, because they all sound alike. They are all saying the same things, some more sententiously than others. Whether it’s Princeton’s Robert P. George NOMster, Westboro Baptists, John Boenher, Putin, or Scalia they are all saying the same things. It’s wrong to edit the tape, however.
quixx777
Taking advice from people who are brainwashed and highly involved in a cult is never a good idea. I don’t think I want to be involved with a religious cult that tells me that God hates anyone. Sounds like an evil god. Besides, Kirk Cameron, you don’t know my life.
Toro666
I don’t understand why when people like Kirk Cameron and Marcus Bachmann and Aaron Shock make anti-gay statements, or endorse ex-gay therapy gays get all up in arms. MEANWHILE, gay porn is infested with gay-for-payers who get porked in the ass, spunk all over the place and it’s all well and good. Then gay men go off about ‘sexual fluidity’ or ‘Heteroflexible’ and all kinds of labels to justify ‘straight men’ have gay sex as not indicative of being gay.
It’s like, gay men should be the LAST to have anything to say again people like Richard Cohen or in this case Kirk Cameron, because gay endorse that mentality. If gay-for-pay porn actors can with a serious face proclaim their 100% heterosexual status, and with just as a straight face gay men can nod enthusiastically and keep throwing them money for pretty much echoing what Richard Cohen, Marcus Bachmann and Kirk Cameron stand for, then why is it controversial now?
Paddy O’Brian and Rocco Reed hate you all just as much. Except they have figured out how to get money from you all at the same time. So too have the producers over at MEN.com. So where does this selective judgement come from exactly? It’s illogical.
fredo777
@Toro666: Have Paddy O’Brien or Rocco Reed stated that being gay is a sin + that we can/should be “changed” in between scenes of having sex with other men? Have they outright expressed hatred for gays + been stupid enough to vocalize that sentiment considering their primary audience? If not, your comparison is a weak one.
Xzamilio
@demented: No there aren’t. There are NO contemporary accounts of Jesus’s life… none. Saying it doesn’t demonstrate it. Not from Josephus, Tacitus, Pliny the Younger, Suetonius, the Gospels, or the Roman tax records as so many apologists constantly try to claim. “Research reveals” it? What research?
Xzamilio
@demented: But here’s my point. The bible is to history what Green Eggs and Ham is to culinary arts. There is nothing historical within the context of the bible EXCEPT the bible… it is an old compilation of stories that have little to NO evidence for any of the things it talks about, and when people try to claim this crap is true and live their lives by it, that is just stupid. But then when you have people like these fundies who turn and then try to force their iron age morality on the rest of us, then it becomes dangerous.
” The entire Bible is mostly just an intermittent historical record, with the OT having some requirements for cultural distinctiveness.”
Let me dumb that down for you: The bible is an old book that is indicative of the time it came from because it’s words are outdated.
transiteer
How dumb & ignorant do you need to be to be an evangelical ‘christian’ – phoney compassion in a phoney religion.
onthemark
Kirk Cameron can BLOW ME.
Typhon
@1EqualityUSA: The focus is on gays because it is sooo much easier to have a go at queers than do what Jesus really gave a damn about i..e giving everything you own to the poor. Wealth and it’s mis-use are harped on over and over again in the new testament but some christians in the absence of promised miracles have substituted wealth as “evidence” for divine approval/existence. The prosperity gospel is an obscenity and having a go at gays is just spiritual karma so said christo-fascists can feel righteous without actually having to sacrifice anything i.e. $$$$$
