Protesting the Predators Who Target Homosexuals for Conversion

Well aren’t we just in a protesting mood lately? Tampa’s rally against an NBC affiliate who accepted cash in exchange for airing an hour-long anti-gay infomercial, wasn’t enough, was it? Here’s the scene from Wednesday’s Exodus International conference, the annual gathering of ex-gays at Wheaton College outside Chicago that, as promised, drew the ire of the Gay Liberation Network and other supporters.

Know what we’d prefer? Rather than rallying outside on the street (which, to be clear, we’re big fans of), why not infiltrating the conference Ian Halperin-style? Or, rather, Bruno-style? That is some footage we’d love to post.

What do you think of this post?

Personally, I’d love to see some Bruno style journalism of this place. However, I think the upscale of protests is a product of 1) more acceptance as a whole from the entire nation and 2) gays and lesbians are pissed off and not going to take it anymore. Both of those things are extremely positive.

I was at the wheaton protest and can attest that it went well. The Exodus organizers moved the entrance for the conference attendees to a side door so they wouldn’t be “tempted” to look at our protest and sow the seed of doubt in their head about the conversion therapy. I’m from DuPage County which is very conservative and was astounded by the size of the protest, though many were from Chicago. still, many were from the burbs which bodes well for organizing here. thanks for the video and the press.

The banner is exemplary with the word “Bigotry” emblazoned across people’s psyche!
