“The pastor of a San Marino church has said he will not perform any more wedding ceremonies in California until the state’s same-sex marriage ban is overturned. The Rev. Art Cribbs, pastor of the 60-member San Marino Congregational United Church of Christ, says he has been marrying couples for more than 20 years but the wedding ceremony he performed on May 23 would be his last until gay couples are given the same right.” [AP]
that’s nice. of course, with 60 members he probably averages a marriage about once every 5 years.
@dgz: Yeah well I think it’s a good example to other pastors. We all have to work within our circles of influence and he’s doing something. I have respect for this.

Hear. Hear.
Well said.
@@Daniel_Baylis: no argument from me.
Actually, there are two pastors in California refusing to officiate hetero marriages until the ban on gays is lifted; the other is Rev. Anne Cohen, pastor of First Congregational Church in Glendale. And for those here who continue to insinuate race into this issue, it should be noted that Rev. Cribbs is an African American man.
Scans entire thread for evidence of racial in this issue. None found.
This is why I love being a member of UCC.
@schlukitz: just consider it prophylactic. i don’t blame him… some yutz always seems to bring it up.
@dgz:
;P Thanks.
cool!
Somehow, this need to be given more attention by the mainstream…
