This is one of the most insidiously homophobic articles I’ve ever seen on Queerty, even if it is – allegedly – based on real tweets. It’s built around the notion that bottoms are less-than in all kinds of was – less masculine, but also generally less valued other than as a receptacle for a penis – and pretty much a separate species of gay; and that the very act of a receptive sexual partner is burdensome and degrading. It perpetuates the stereotype of the girly gay, who must obviously be a bottom, even though anyone who is gay knows that most gay guys are neither exclusively bottom or top, most guys who bottom are not flaming queens, and many of those who could be characterised as effeminate may well be versatile or predominantly top. This is all in service of a pre-70s caricature of homosexuals which was and is designed to demean all homosexuals. Queerty gleefully rushing to celebrate this in the name of humour is nothing short of appalling.
