When Donald Trump promised to protect the LGBTQ community in his fear-mongering speech at the RNC this year, only the most gullible fell for it. Count Cher as among those smart enough to know a conman conning when she sees one.
Cher spoke with Lawrence O’Donnell on his MSNBC program The Last Word on Tuesday and made clear just how silly she found Trump’s empty promises.

After playing the footage of the speech, O’Donnell asked what she thought when she heard him speak those words.

“Oh, come on!” she said, laughing. “And he says it, he says those letters like a child that’s just learning the alphabet.”
“He’s the most disingenuous man I’ve ever seen,” she added. “And I want to tell you, my people will not believe him for a minute.”
Cher referenced his closed door meeting with 400 antigay evangelicals shortly after claiming to be more of a friend to the LGBTQ community than Hillary Clinton.
“How does he go from that meeting to telling my people that he will protect them?” she asked.
Trump has also said he sides with states like North Carolina when it comes to transgender bathroom laws like HB2, has routinely spoke out against same-sex marriage and in support of discriminatory Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) laws.
On top of that, he selected antigay Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate, and together they are running on an antigay platform that’s so bad even the Log Cabin Republicans are upset about it.
“I fear for (LGBTQ) people, and not just for my son,” she said. “I fear for what (a Trump administration) will do to those people.”

This is not the first time Cher has sounded off on Trump.
Speaking at a Clinton rally in Provincetown, Massachusetts on Sunday she called him a “f***ing idiot.”
“He doesn’t mean we want to ‘Make America Great Again.’ He means: We want to make America straight and white,” she added.

How funny, as I remember it, Trump was the one telling the LGBT community we should arm ourselves and pledging to protect us, while Hillary said the Orlando massacre had nothing to do with Islam, and that we should be more tolerant instead (of those trying to kill us), and even invited the father of Omar Mateen (the terrorist who killed 49 gays and maimed another 50) to sit behind her at her Orlando, FL rally not along ago…*rubbing chin*
Cher is a pathetic woman who has made a series of poor personal life choices and messed up her daughter so much as result of that. She should have retired 10 years ago, but she has so much plastic in her body even if she died now she wouldn’t decompose for 500 years.

Hillary is not any sort of actual ally to LGBT people as it was not that long ago that she was against same sex marriage, and she wants to allow a lot of Muslims from countries where they hate LGB people to emigrate to North America.

Cher doesn’t even have a high school education, so why should anybody care what she says? She thought Mount Rushmore was formed by nature and it JUST HAPPENED to resemble several of our former presidents until her husband, Sonny Bono, explained it to her.
Sonny has gotten a lot of flak for his control of her, but it was because she was too stupid to handle her own affairs, so he was actually protecting her.

The FACTS, as laid out in the article are correct. Trump has cast his lot with the Christian evangelicals who hate us as much as you imagine the rank and file of Islam does.
Statistically, historically and in reality the danger to US LGBT citizens comes from Christians; not the rank and file, but evangelicals and those who are warped to the point of violence by their toxic beliefs. The weak minded among them lash out at us in violence and support the desires of others to do so as well. The more crafty among them try to legislate us back into the 1950’s with the blessing of most right wing politicians. I will never understand how those who clearly have the intelligence necessary to use a computer and usually write complete sentences (admittedly not an exceptional level of intelligence) act, vote and speak out against their own self interests and well being! It is almost as if the idea of losing rights and enfranchisement turns you on.
Certaionly Cher is not an intellectual giant either, but her analysis is based on reality, not imagination as yours is.

It is easily shown that Hillary opposed DADT, understanding its possibility to increase discrimination instead of lessening it as supposed by Bill. While at the time she (as did most, and as Trump still does) opposed marriage equality, she changed with the time. I cannot understand why people of your ilk find this to be a weakness and embrace a man who has actively supported groups that want to re-criminalize homosexuality, or worse.
And of course, Hillary supports historic US policy towards refugees. She knows our history, knows our constitution and supports their continued importance. Trump’s comments continually show he understands neither.

Pardon me? Please find some wording in my posts that either describes myself as a victim or that engages in the confusion you show between reality and fantasy. I do not think you can and so you resort to a disturbingly childish deflection by making things up. YOU are the one scared by the myth of hoards of evil Muslims waiting offshore to kill you, not me. You are the one who embraces the fears and lies used by the right to manipulate the weak minded. The greatest danger to gay people (their rights, their lives and their livlihood), is right here. Actual facts and statistics show that to be true.
Fact is that Hillary has real bone fides as a supporter of gay rights over the last several years. Your Mr Trump, by contrast, simply tells lies and plays to the fear and victim-hood of people like you. He claims (for example when called on his unwillingness to repudiate duke’s endorsement) that he did not know who david duke was, when actual videotape of him from several years ago shows he is well aware of duke…yet you embrace his lies. He claims to be for LGBT rights, yet has never supported marriage equality, and has stated he wants to overturn decisions regarding gay rights. He has stated that evangelicals will have a friend in him the likes of which they have never had before. Who do you think he is telling the bigger lie to; you as a gay man, or the evangelicals who comprise a much larger percentage of the electorate? Its you…he is lying to you, and you suck it up as if it was sperm flowing from his little trump member.
Seems to me that those who kowtow to people who want to destroy their rights (as you do) are the victims. The tools, if you will. Progressives who stand up to them and arm themselves with facts are certainly neither victims nor tools.

I will take Cher’s comments over Trumpy Wumpy’s garbage any day. The President of France says it right – “Trump makes me feel Retchy!”. At least Hillary, Obama, and many others are learning the truth about us and moving to support us. My lifetime partner of 54 years, married 12 years in Massachusetts, are now both retired and living the American dream. I had a crush on a boy back in 1946 in Boise, Idaho which had “The Fall of ’55” also known as a witch hunt, and the local newspaper printed an article that claimed homosexuals were monsters hiding in the bushes and molesting young boys in the park. I knew it was bad information but it took until the early 1970s for the Scientists and Medical profession to publicly announce that we are a normal part of civilization. But people had been taught that we were deviates etc. and now they have learned and are still learning that we are not. There are religions that are also learning to support us and are performing same-gender marriages. Let us be happy that the civilization is advancing to support us which is why marriage equality is the law of the land. Churches like the Catholic church will continue to be poked in the eye until they change or they lose too many members and money.
