Even though it’s the only thing keeping the show in the public consciousness, the cast of Finding Prince Charming is apparently jolly cross at series star Robert Sepulveda Jr. for not being forthright about his prolific escorting days.
Yet, none of them are morally upright enough to actually go on the record about their feelings — that could damage their reputation. Speaking on a condition of anonymity, one cast member told TheWrap, “If I wanted to date a hooker, I’d hire one,” apparently unwilling to admit that the distance between escort and Logo reality star is significantly shorter than a jaunt across the street for your morning coffee.

Another contestant echoed this sentiment, as well as the insistence that their name not be used: “There are videos of Robert out there that are quite disgusting,” said Mr. Mysterioso. “Now I’m associated with him. Try explaining that your mother.”
So far, Logo has only issued one official statement regarding the micro-scandal: “We are aware of Robert’s past and fully support him as he moves forward in his search for love on Finding Prince Charming.”
Last week, the 33-year-old Sepulveda explained to People.com that he turned to escorting in his early days after seeing that his bank balance was at $2.14.

“I didn’t know how I was going to pay rent or my tuition or buy food.”
Meanwhile, cast members insist there is “no way” the network didn’t know about his past, and not to believe their official statement.
“We all had to go through rigorous background checks for three weeks and another three days before the snow even start taping.”
“I don’t believe the network was blindsided,” another told TheWrap. “I don’t think anyone believes that.”

This guys are coming off as privileged and sex negative. They’re on a TV game show to win a relationship. And to say the the videos out there are disgusting, so they’ve never ever looked up porn? I’m sorry, but I’m just finding their statements coming off as bitchy and holier than thou. They seriously need to get over themselves.
Xzamilloh
Bitch, you went on a reality dating show, vying for the superficial validation of a physically attractive guy. Believe me, Spudnickvelveeta’s past isn’t why your mother holds her head down.
Creamsicle
If the show knew anything about it they probably thought it would be seen as a positive. I mean, just look at queerty. at least 1 out of every 12 posts is about a gay porn stars. At least from the outside gay subculture usually doesn’t look down on sexual promiscuity as much as hetero pop culture. They probably chose him because his escorting would have made him seem more desirable to viewers.
Josh447
I’d be livid too, but it’s all most likely scripted, all of it, and the gay community is paying for it. The whole thing is disgusting. From beginning to end. Logo should be class action sued for mass slander, then taken out behind the wood shed, and SHOT.
orcanyc
The Guy’s are sex shaming and that is so wrong.
Dedric Walker
I don’t care about his past. What does that have to do with what he is today? We all have done things in our past that we may not be proud of.
billygoat
that’s for sure – these guys are prostituting themselves for celebrity and $$ and they’re bitching about the guy’s past? Nothing hypocritical about that. Sorry Mary, your complaints are as hollow as your personality.
JamJewel
I was in my 30s [I’m in my 60s now] and financially comfortable when I started escorting because it was nuts that guys older than me would pay to selep with me. But what I found was that they appreciated being able to take me out in public and I could have an intelligent conversation with their friends. I don’t get the public shaming at all. I am supposed to think that the Tinder guy sleeping with a different guy every night is better morally than an escort? Give me an effin break!
BriBri
Let’s say it like it is, he’s a prostitute.
Masc Pride
@Dedric Walker: A person’s past can have lots to do with the present day. Pasts can be very significant in relationships. However, as others have stated, given the nature of this “competition”, something like this should have been expected.
dantheman91
@Zachary Ledbetter: so injecting someone else´s cum in your penis is a normal thing to you?

So how and why was Sulvepeter, chosen? Was he the best they could find ? Not a cute farmer from Nebraska? A hot mechanic from Arkansas? We get to represent us, a *****, who looks plucked and painted within an inch of his life?

It’s not his past. It’s his present.

@He BGB: maybe he slept with the producers? It wouldn’t be the first time he fu**ed his way to some money.

OK this statement alone gets me “Last week, the 33-year-old Sepulveda explained to People.com that he turned to escorting in his early days after seeing that his bank balance was at $2.14”. Come on Robert? You stated before that your mother helped you with so much that you couldn’t even to begin to thank her.
I dont have a problem with your past because believe me, I have a past. The thing is your past is “supposedly” your present as you just stopping making money being an escort before taping of the show. Another thing is your so called businesses. Where is it? Why lie but get on tv stating honesty is what I stand by. Come on now!!!! You dont to lie to people because at the end of the day not one of these people critiquing you takes care of you, but you put yourself for the gay world to see and you lie about things. Non profit start ups and successful businessman. dude give me a break.
Kangol
@JamJewel: You make a good point that escorting can be much more than sex. Someone else points out that most of us have seen porn of all kinds, so his videos shouldn’t be that shocking. That said, most escorts and porn actors aren’t ramming shampoo bottles up their tucheses or sucking cum out of condoms. But look, it’s reality TV, so Logo should have been upfront about all of this, or given us a big reveal in week 6, say, and let the chips fall as they might. People would probably be even more likely to tune in.
LubbockGayMale
Methinks a couple of contestants are setting themselves up for a lawsuit at the end of the show, unless they win, of course.
slinky49
I have no problem with the fact that he was an escort or did porn. It’s his life and neither of those things have anything to do with me nor any of the people getting all knotted up about it. Whether he had to or wanted to is irrelevant to me and should be to anyone else. People do sex work because other people are willing to pay for sex work. It is understandable behavior that should not be criminalized or stigmatized. The people who do it should not be forever banned from doing other work or finding love with another person no matter how they go about seeking it. Want to live in a kinder, more inclusive, more accepting and understanding world? Let it begin with you: try exhibiting those behaviors.
Kim K Kute Kuchie
I don’t care that he escorted & a common hoe. I care that LOGO network producers tried to portray a HOE as PRINCE & not even sarcastically.
Danny279
Love the clueless commenters casting moral judgment on the contestants for casting moral judgments. lol!
As for this show, Sepulveda has destroyed it. The whole premise is that the guy at the center is a big catch, someone who is very desirable as a mate and who would otherwise be unavailable. That is why they are competing against one another – because a shot at dating the star is worth it. But everyone knows now that Sepulveda’s companionship could be purchased online. He has cheapened his sexuality by commodifying it. So there is no incentive to compete for him.
ChrisK
@BriBri: Big woop.
Kangol
@Danny279: Well, he’s gorgeous and hung like a draft horse (10 in), and for many guys that is “very desirable” in a “mate,” and usually is “unavailable.” Just think: if you can get past his past and you truly vibe with him, you’d never have to pay for it! LOL
adamnfool
Honestly… did people go on a reality television show to find true love? Because I’m not really sure that’s how it works. The issue isn’t that the show turned out to be fake, it’s that reducing human relationships to game shows probably isn’t a wise thing to do across the board for everyone (including the audience).
And to the people who feel cheated that this man is now apparently not Prince Charming… reality television is faker than fiction, and here’s a newsflash, Prince Charming is a fairy tale character to begin with. No one’s perfect.. and frankly I can think of FAR MORE AWFUL THINGS PEOPLE DO ALMOST CONSTANTLY TO EACH OTHER ALL OVER THE WORLD that are far more worse than this. Who did this man hurt again? Okay sex is awkward especially when put in public… but really? Get your priorities aligned. If you need better media entertainment advice… I’m happy to provide you a list of far better options to make you forget about your internet outrage.
And if you think this changes anyone’s mind about gay people to a negative… that’s not how it works… so stop clutching those pearls, you’re going to leave marks and people might think they are hickeys.
Our allies aren’t stupid, and those who hate us already hate us. This changes nothing. We are not trying to please our judges by attempting to stand on any sort of pedestal that they themselves can not balance on. This man never lied to you personally about his past, and I would kind of actually be annoyed for Jesus to have acted better than our community toward the other Mary after everything that’s happened. That was sure quick.
adamnfool
Just don’t watch the show if you don’t like him, and move on.
PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID
The real problem is the premise: “Prince Charming”
#HowWouldaDisneyPrincessReact?
adamnfool
The real problem is that if you want a Prince Charming… you create a story.
You don’t make reality television.
Ideals are better role models than people.
And stories will stay with you far longer than whoever the fuck was on a reality television show 10 years ago. The future is calling, and it wants to know why we are talking about this. I replied we have no lives. 🙁
Jayj
I think everyone’s porn career will increase due to this show.. Including most of the contestants
Jack Meoff
What’s happening with this show is basically a self fulfilling prophesy. It seems like everyone got what they deserved on all fronts.
stanpaske
OK! It takes nothing to be judge, jury and executioner. He has a past. OMG! I have a past. I have been with over 50 men…100 men. I did it because I was insecure and scared to be gay or admit I was gay. I wanted love and to be loved. OMFG! I am a dumb slut/whore. But I tried and continue to try. Men suck and continue to suck. I made nothing, despite giving myself away to anyone that would take me, want me, have me. He used his body and made a profit, paid bills and made something that is not poor. We thought he was hot, sexy, and everything we wanted/needed, until we learned he solid that imagine. Really? Jaded? Judgmental? Much? That is good business to me. You can act pure and insulted, but the reality is that most of you have been, lusted, masturbated, desired, wanted someone just like him. Porn is filled with men just like him for a reason. Go ahead and build your glass houses and castles, but the reality is very few of us our pure virgins or innocent. The fact that you choose to throw stones or act insulted by the fact that he was an escort is like the pot calling the kettle black. We are gay and our past is dark, dirty and less than pure. Get over it and move on.
QJ201
There are tons of escorts with way more class than this dirty pig.
They should have cast Colby Keller as Prince Charming, no one would give a damn because that man has class and is just FINE.
Kim K Kute Kuchie
@QJ201: hahahha that’s right. your solution is replacing a whore with a prostitute Colby Keller . Both ahve big dicks thou
jason_melvil
/sigh amazes me how many guys don’t get it or are to quickly to jump on things without knowing the facts.
1) Let’s start with the people claiming that is stuff in his past – He was still doing escort as of April 2016… That’s a couple of months ago and I’m sorry, but for that to be true it would have to be either during the shoots or during auditions. Either way it’s NOT his past.
2) The fact is that the producers deliberately lie about it. There is no way the producers didn’t spend 5 minutes googling him. Meaning they did know, and obviously decided to go along with it just for cheap publicity (fact is we’re talking about it…)
For the record rumors are also going around that he’s lying about his businesses and such…
3) The show itself was super wrapped as a way to shove “family values” every third sentence. Which it clearly isn’t promoting – again, there’s nothing wrong and personally I feel like vomiting when I hear the phrase “family values” because it’s basically your typical 50s brainwashing, but if the show wanted to do that and shove the whole “one and true love” and lack of open and free sex why go with a sex worker?
4) What Dany279 is actually correct on this one. The point of this type of show is to get Prince Charming aka a guy who presumably only exists in Fairy Tales. The idea is to give people in the streets a chance to get something that’s practically almost unattainable for them.
For American Idol that’s a singing career. For Top Model it’s a modeling career. For Prince Charming it’s the chance to date an amazing star you wouldn’t have any other way.
And the fact that they used an escort – a guy who by definition is obtainable to anyone who has enough money is by definition against the entire idea.
There’s a reason there are reality shows that give you a prize to have a big vacation in some long distanced exotic location – and there isn’t a single reality show where the prize for the winner is a free local cab ride.
Heck, even one of the contestants said : “I wouldn’t have gone to all the trouble with the show if I knew I could just flash some money” or something like that.
It’s not that he isn’t a human being, or that it’s not just a job or that people shouldn’t date him, it’s just that he can’t be the prize on this reality show as by definition he IS obtainable by anyone.
5) Regardless of this “scandal”, the entire show to me is one abysmal failure. Boy Meets Boy was far more entertaining even without the twist on it. The actual Prince Charming there was charismatic where as this guy is just a shallow cardboard. I also liked his looks better but that might be just me.
Heck, the guy doesn’t even seem like such a catch compared to the contestants. When they opened up with him “secretly” being one of the guys, I honestly wouldn’t bet on him being the Prince Charming if I hadn’t known about it beforehand.
Which just made him even more boring and unattractive. It’s like they are doing everything wrong. The idiotic “tie” ceremony (really? that’s the best you can come up with?), the way blown up over drama since day 1 yada yada yada
It’s like they’re trying to burn it up for the insurance or something.
seaguy
@Josh447: All the gay community is paying for it? Get real, and stop giving this stupid show that much credit.

“There are videos of Robert out there that are quite disgusting.” What is this, ChristianMingle.com? What a bunch of fussy, uptight sweater queens!
jdboston617
@orcanyc: Sex shaming? Not at all. The Prince was an escort and a raunchy one with video and disgusting acts that are now public and that’s terrible. They have lives and friends watching… Had they known who they were fighting for, many of them would not have joined. There’s no sex shaming.
jdboston617
@MSMiller: Have you watched his videos? Do you even know what people are grossed out by? Cuz it’s disgusting.

33? Rent boy HOs love to lie about their age!

@Kangol: While there is no denying he is very well endowed, I really wish gay men would spend 99cents and buy a ruler to find out what “ten inches” actually is.

In the 1980s, I was a contestant on The Gay Dating Game on Ch. J on Manhattan Access television, but would have quietly declined if I had known that the eligible gay bachelor was a prostitute. They are not the wholesome men you’d want to live the rest of your life with, but what I cannot understand is that young people to-day think that I am the asshole because I don’t believe it to be an honourable profession. Recently, a young man told me that he was thinking of turning tricks to pay the rent, and I cautioned him that even if you accept money for sex only once, he will be a whore for the rest of his life. He looked at me as if *I* were the crazy one.
derek mcgillicuddy
@Zachary Ledbetter: I watched a couple of the videos too, and you are right: a video celebrating smegma is not to every one’s taste, and I say “blech” too.
derek mcgillicuddy
@jason_melvil: Yes, James on “Boy Meets Boy” even looked like he might put a glass shoe on some lucky guy’s foot.
