While Florida’s Department of Children and Families says it won’t challenge an appeals court decision knocking down the state’s ban on gay adoption, Attorney General Bill McCollum says he’s “reviewing” the possibility of an appeal. He has six days — until Oct. 21 — to file an appeal, which means Martin Gill, who brought the lawsuit to keep his kids, is going to have one helluva nerve-wracking week ahead of him. “We’re talking to all kinds of people,” McCollum says of determining whether to appeal. Of course if he did appeal the decision to the State Supreme Court, he likely wouldn’t be around to try the case: he’s leaving his post.
