Rep. Lauren Boebert may not like being mentioned alongside her unhinged colleague, Marjorie Taylor Greene, but the Colorado Republican appears to have no trouble making a fool of herself all on her own.
Boebert took to social media to parrot the Right’s favorite, newly-revived talking point — that LGBTQ people are “groomers.” Re-tweeting a trailer for the upcoming Discovery+ reality series Generation Drag posted by the conservative Libs of TikTok account, Boebert wrote, “Siri, define grooming.”

Our politics have been nothing but empty theater to get our attention and stock our worst tendencies for DECADES now, and Queerty is feeding into it by continuing to cover Boebert, Greene, Hawley, and Cawthorne. They’re all extreme examples of the fascist creep in the GOP that would prefer to stoke partisan culture wars than discuss policy and the need for better, more proportional representation. Because neither the Democratic nor Republican base are happy with their diminishing quality of life and historic loss of buying power.
It’s not the 1800s any more. We have the technical capacity to have more direct representation than the systems devised during a time when it took days of grueling travel for representatives in the untamed Western state of Ohio to reach D.C. We need to expand Congress to better represent our growing population.
We have build an AMERICAN identity since the ratification of the Constitution. Unless it’s being stoked by someone with a partisan benefit to reap, Americans don’t put themselves at odds over which state they were born in, because we know that we’re all Americans. The nature of the Constitution means that we’re all American because we CHOOSE to follow the same principals of governance of, by, and for the people, with no kings or other inherited titles to rulership and political power.
The American government belongs to the American people. Yes, it’s easier for the son of a corporate board member to get into office after getting their legacy admission to an Ivy League school with mediocre educational achievement. But it’s also possible for a bartender from Queens to pound the pavement, meet with communities and win a seat in the House. It’s possible for the radical upstart of one generation to become the American Civil Rights icon of the future generations.
This is America. It is an hot mess. And there is more turmoil on the horizon, as there ever will be. But we are exceptional when we come together to look towards a better future full of possibilities rather than being chained down by our past.
