Republican Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney had some choice words for Larry Craig yesterday, namely: “disgraceful”.
Two days after Craig left Romney’s campaign, Romney derided Craig to the press. Unlike John McCain and other Republicans, however, Romney did not call for Craig’s resignation. He took a more measured approach:
I think at this stage, the right course is for him to make this decision looking at his own conscience, talking to the people of Idaho, talking to his colleagues in the Senate. I’m not one of those. I’m going to let him make that decision.
That’s a good, politically-shrewd middle ground. We’re sure it won’t last long.
