This is typical mainstream propoganda in the “bible” of what most people read. (Well, this and the National Enquirer, People, UsWeekly and the like). People don’t even actually read ANYMORE and when they do, it’s trash like this. These are the people who vote and make all the major decisions that affect all our lives. These rags are their main news sources, not the New York Times or Washington Post. So is it a wonder that we’re perpetually treated as second class citizens? When basic rights afforded all other American citizens, are denied us. Will GLAAD call for a boycott of the GLOBE, or ask for a retraction or clarification or best yet what the point is of their cover story? No. And what does his sexual orientation have to do with the atrocities he committed? Nothing. Is the GLOBE’s insinuation that all Gay men are unstable murderers? We’re just ticking time bombs? We’re just mentally ill? Are labotomies and electro-shock therapy far behind? Homosexuality is not a malady nor a form of mental illness. So what is the GLOBE’s point? Would it make his crime less heinous if he were straight? As for the Phelps Klan….the press always seems anxious for their reaction to any national tragedy, despite all their feigned revulsion over these wack jobs actions. The press has given this wacky KKKult plenty of air time for a group of deranged inbred fools. But perhaps the press, is not so revulsed but amused SINCE the butt of the Phelps vitriole is homosexuals. At least with the Phelps Klan we know where we stand. It’s the two-faced media that should give us cause for worry. Especially when in this time and age, that one’s sexual orientation is still the primary definition of one’s worth in society. Just remember the jokes and outrage over that okay movie called “Brokeback Mountain”. If it was about anything else except for love between 2 cowboys, if it were about inter-racial love for instance, those jokes would never be made (thankfully). But it’s always open season on homosexuals, just like the GLOBE goes on to demonstrate. Sure, it’s only the GLOBE, but remember, most people that buy it, believe it. Remember that as we fight for our common rights for marriage and to serve our country with respect.

This is scary on so many levels. What does the GLOBE mean? Is it insinuating that being gay is to be mentally unstable? This is just not something to fluff off. As hard as it is to admit for most of us, most Americans get their news from papers such as these. The same Americans that vote. The same Americans that deprive us of our common rights they abuse. Marriage. To serve our country. To live freely. To adopt children. What will GLAAD do here? Will GLAAD ask for a retraction? Will GLAAD protest this? No. But this headline will probably stir some gaybashing. I really hope not but we know better. When the press finds time to be amused and entertain the Phelps KKKult while feigning being disturbed by them, and not ignore these assholes…. then this Headline to boot is rather inflammatory. What does the gunmen’s sexual orientation have to do with the heinous atrocities he committed? Is that the GLOBE’s answer to the tragedy? This happened because he was gay? Really? Does this even surprise anyone that we’re still considered mental invalids for being born homosexual? Are labotomies and electric-shock therapy far behind? I know this is only the GLOBE, but more people read this than the NYT or the Washington Post. More people, though they won’t admit it out loud, believe the crap printed in this and other papers like it. These people vote and read this and you wonder why abortion is being reversed, why homosexuals can’t marry and why credence is given to the Phelps family? It’s amazing. What will GLAAD do? Nothing. They’ll laugh it off, because it’s only the GLOBE. But those are the people that persecute our community the most. It’s sad. It’s sad that we’re constantly persecuted it seems to the amusement of the rest of the country. It brings to mind all the tasteless jokes that “Brokeback Mountain” spurred. Imagine if a Spike Lee film engendered the same kind of jokes. NO ONE WOULD STAND FOR IT. And no one should. But we did….and GLAAD was right there laughing along.

i’m confused… what does a tabloid have to do with this country? do you hate this country because of it’s freedom of speech or because it’s not exclusively gay? and what country would you rather be in because, if you think this is bad… try reading British tabloids….

Freedom of Speech is a natural right of all people, but slanderous and libelous language is not protected in this country. Nor is inflammatory language that seeks to provoke riot (i.e. the classic, don’t yell fire in a movie theatre when it isn’t on fire)…Their is no other country I’d rather be in, when anyone suggests improvements, they’re labeled Anti-American. America was founded as a Progressive country. In order for the Constitution to have any meaning, it must grow with its people. The GLOBE, National Enquirer and papers of that ilk, like it or not, reflects more of the pulse of what this country is thinking about than most any other paper. I don’t care about the British Tabloids, I’m concerned about what’s going on here in the country that prides itself as the “LAND OF THE FREE”. A land that purportedly is a MELTING POT, and savors all of its flavors. That is the dream. We all have something to add to the flavor of the United States. Inflammatory covers like that of the GLOBE only serve to segregate and demean those not in the majority. Wake up.
