Three-year-old Caiden wants to be a Disney princess for Halloween. And he wants his dad to be one, too.

Caiden’s dad, Paul, recently posted this picture of his son dressed as Elsa from the movie Frozen to Facebook, along with the following caption:
“Anyone that knows us, knows we generally let Caiden make his own choices, to an extent. Well, he has decided on a Halloween costume. He wants to be Elsa. He also wants me to be Anna. Game on.”

“Why shame him for wanting to be a princess?” Paul told Huffington Post after the photo went viral. “When little girls want to be superheroes, it’s cute. Why isn’t it the same for a little boy that wants to be a princess?”
“I want other parents to realize that gender stereotypes are taught and learned behaviors,” Caiden’s mom, Ashley, added. “At three years old, kids are still developing, exploring and discovering. As parents we shouldn’t discourage their individuality.”
“It’s important for children to know that their parents will stand by them no matter what,” Paul said. “Ashley and I will do whatever it takes to keep our son happy and not take his innocence and imagination from him.”

Glad he’s letting his kid be what he wants to be

It is Halloween. Lighten up. Everyone dresses up in one form of drag or another.
Victor Barry
He’s 3. Don’t put adult crap on the kid. Let him be.

I love explaining to children what a guillotine is — a machine used to chop the head off princesses.

Parenting win! Well done, dad!!

Please realize that they are probably restricting social media and commentary from other sources to their own adult space. Kudos to them for being immediately accepting and not hesitating in this decision. This is the way to let the individual grow from themselves without being intentionally shaped or processed in some misshapen conventional manner. The parents are saying be yourself and not be “like this.” It’s refreshing.

AWESOME. this is how you Dad.
SteveDenver
“Why are you dressed that way?”
“LOVE!”

This is truly amazing, and Dad’s agreeing to dress-up too is “totally AWEsome”! Way to go!

Amazing parents!
I’m a guy, but when I was a kid, my friends and I loved to play with my sister’s make-up box or doll’s house from time to time. But we knew we weren’t supposed to and always had a feeling of guilt. Luckily, times have changed and more and more kids are allowed to play whatever games they please without hysterical adults messing with their minds!

BRAVO DAD.. FCUK what others think…

I usually dress as a sailor during halloween. I like this kid.

My Dad could be a total jerk sometimes about a lot of things but not when it came down to what we wanted to be at Halloween. When I was 7 I wanted to be Twiggy the model. He and my Mom were totally cool with it and they dressed me up in a mini skirt and did my make up and I had short hair that they brushed just like Twiggy’s!!! No heels though I had to wear my regular sneakers. When some younger kid bumped into me and said “sorry lady” I was in absolute heaven and couldn’t wait to get to the sidewalk to tell my Dad!!!!! He just laughed and said good job! I don’t know why he wasn’t cool like that all the time?

This kid will probably turn out to be totally straight in the future. He is just horsing around.

We are getting closer and closer to a time when articles of this nature will not be news worthy because this father’s attitude will be considered the norm and people won’t even raise an eyebrow.

Honestly, I don’t think I’m this enlightened yet.

It’s new world. We’ll soon have a female president and I can be Queen for a day. Sound like great parents to me.

This^ is a great first step to allowing people to find who they are. The reverse> shoving & forcing people to be & to love who society wishes them to- is WRONG.
Most likely, this little boy will turn out a hetero-guy with kids- & he’ll be a great dad, we can assume.
Kudos for the inner strength & caring that these parents permit their child to test his world!
GayEGO
This is the way all parents should be, treating their children with love, inclusiveness, and understanding. I expect this will become the norm, in all countries that have intelligent leaders that support equality for all of their citizens and humanity.

Fun story!
The funny thing is, the kid will probably turn out to be completely straight, and he just likes the movie.
But let the FOX News freak out begin!
JessPH
This is so WRONG!!!
Elsa costumes are so last Halloween!

I wish all fathers would let their sons and daughters be themselves. And all mothers too.
