According to our sources, actor Alan Cumming does not have a problem with authority. Editors at Headmaster magazine, the art publication for the “sophisticated man-lover,” assigned Cumming to go around documenting public restrooms as a homoerotic homage to filmmaker Peter Greenaway’s 1985 documentary, 26 Bathrooms.
Cumming turned his assignment in a week early—on Christmas Eve, no less!—and even received some extra credit (hint, hint).
You know what they say, beauty is in the eye of the iPhone holder: Alan toured some of New York’s seediest gay bars and upscale cabaret rooms, peeking inside the men’s rooms to capture Instagram-style snapshots of good boys getting pissy.
We have gotten our hands on a couple of the shots just for your viewing pleasure. If you want to check out the too-dirty-even-for-Queerty batch, all these photos and more appear exclusively in the third issue of Headmaster, on sale now. And if you live in New York, you have a chance to meet and mingle with the man-loving artists and editors of Headmaster tonight at the magazine’s third-issue launch party taking place at King’s Cross in the Lower East Side.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

The 2nd pic is quite possibly the hottest thing I’ve ever seen.

Looks rather sleazy and inappropriate. The Queen will not be amused.
Jimmy Velvet
Love ya, Alan, really I do…but don’t quit your day job.

@DouggSeven: Oh I could not agree more.
Eric in Chicago
@Jimmy Velvet: agreed

Oh good. More thrillingly artistic sleaze. Can we move on already please? Amazing how some people who righteously shoot down certain aspects of gay subculture will giddily fawn over stupid, meaningless crap like this. I’ve been in the artistic circuit for quite a while now and these boring attempts at provocation only seem backwards and pre-adolescent to me anymore.
Mike
I agree Gauthier. These photos and the “art” project aren’t anything original and yeah there are guys who cruise bathrooms but by and large for the past 35 years it’s been frowned upon and not something most people want to do since if they want to hook up with a stranger they’ll just go online. I like Alan Cumming and his acting and how he’s out as a bisexual man but I agree that he should just stick to acting.

this is so seedy and vile sex in public toilets is nothing to be proud of,its the lower side of gay life [ a minority of gays] so these pictures show nothing, no talent more a reflection on the so called artists who may be telling his own life story,
rickydee
It hasn’t been too many years since a camera in a gay bar, much less the toilet, was enough to get “your beads read to filth!” Cummings is old enough to remember! lol
Gauthier
@Mike: Also, like others pointed out, why would we for fuck’s sake want to promote this seedy aspect of gay (sub)culture? Especially since those places are teeming mires of std’s and there is already such a tragic health problem with Hep C and Incurable strains of Gonorrhea that no-one seems to have the guts to talk about? Why don’t Queerty and other such sites help a little more promoting prevention and information on these issues instead of posting rancid crap like this? 🙁
