GayCities/Queerty Photoblogger Jeffrey James Keyes perched himself above Sheridan Square, the site of an impromptu Friday night marriage equality celebration, for Sunday’s New York‘s Gay Pride Parade and captured the jubilation just two days after the New York State Senate approved the same-sex marriage bill. Governor Andrew M. Cuomo was one of the stars of this year’s show, which brought cheers from the throngs along the parade route. Got your own pics? Share ’em!

The Gov. is one of the great heroes in the history of the civil rights movement. He deserves all the praise he’s getting.
But so do a lot of others in this parade: hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers who came out to family and friends and colleagues and put a human face on the need for equality. Every one of them also is a hero.
