Since the 2020 release of his debut novel, ‘Surrender Your Sons, ‘Adam Sass has become an unstoppable breakout force in the world of young adult queer books. Balancing between classic thrillers and heartwarming rom-coms (think of it as “scares” and “swoons”), his writing is a fresh look into what’s possible for the future of queer YA.

His latest novel, ‘Your Lonely Nights Are Over,’ is a ‘Scream’-meets-‘Mean Girls’ teen slasher, in which a serial killer begins targeting a high school’s Queer Club. It’s also, as promised in the author’s note, an ode to gay friendship. “It’s the most fun I’ve ever had writing something… I’m so happy queer horror is on the rise, especially in teen literature. This is the book I’ve always wanted to make,” Sass tells us.

We caught up with Adam Sass to discuss all things horror, comedy, YA lit, and the inspiration behind his latest work.

‘Your Lonely Nights Are Over’ is available everywhere September 12.
