“Housemates” (haha) A. Benjamin Amadio (an entrepreneur) and Dr. Ralph Kennaugh (a retired Harvard medical professor) aren’t have a very good week: Some $27 million of artwork was just jacked from their Pebble Beach home. Well, their rented home (they’re house hunting). Jackson Pollock, Vincent Van Gogh, and Rembrandt are among the famed painters who disappeared during what the couple call an inside job. They’re offering a $1 million reward for the return of their art — and a $5 million reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the thieves. And an additional $10,000 if you ensure nobody finds out this piece (NSFW) was hanging above their mantle. (j/k)

Somethings is wrong about this story. All this art and no insurance? Its’ two guys, one older and the other quite young. I would be suspicious of the young one, buts just me.

(a retired Harvard medical professor) can afford $27 million (they make that kind of money) in art, but is living in a rental home?
You’re right, Andy. Something is very wrong about this story!

So they owned 27 million dollars worth of art and they had THAT piece of junk hanging over their mantle? Something’s not right with this picture (couldn’t resist, sorry).

@BobP: Uhhh… you know they were kidding, right?

rich people living in a rental home isn’t odd. it’s what rich people do whenever they are looking for a home in a certain area. some people rent corporate apartments, i’ve used an extended stay hotel, others will crash on a friend’s couch. this is not odd.
what is odd is that the collection of such valuable art would be taken to a rental home. unless this was a long-term stay (think Michael Jackson or any “actor” involved with MTV) then the idea that the art would be in a temporary location instead of locked up securely is absurd.
and it’s only an “inside job” if it involved a trick or a 3-way gone wrong. have rich gay men learned nothing from dear Versace?

You expressed the thought far better then I did. ;o)

well thank god stolen art is very tricky to sell, since art of this caliber is well recognized and carefully cataloged.
I really hope their art is returned to them, I would be devastated if this happened to me…
