HOMO FOR THE HOLIDAYS

WATCH: Ho! Ho! Ho! It’s “RuPaul’s Christmas Ball” From 1993!

Back in 1993, before Dida Ritz was a glimmer in her drag mother’s eye, RuPaul hosted a wacky holiday special that apparently only aired in the UK. RuPaul’s Christmas Ball was part downtown scene, part public-access show and part celebrity funfest, with appearances by a very young Sherry Vine, Boy George, Eartha Kitt, La Toya Jackson and Elton John. Plus, special X-Mas greetings from Taylor Dane, Little Richard—and Nirvana!  (You think Ru smells like Teen Spirit?)

At 50 minutes, it’s a little much to digest all in one sitting (kind of like our mom’s Christmas ham). So bookmark this shit and keep coming back all season long!

Ouch. Lean years. Glad she has come back up.

Whatever happened to the VH1 special that her Ho Ho Ho! Christmas album was based on?

Damn, Drag Race makes this look like a 200 million dollar 3D feature film blockbuster!
