We didn’t see this one coming. Now that his legal worries seem to be behind him for the moment, X-Men director and lover of twinks Bryan Singer is about to become a daddy.
No, that’s not what his lovers will seductively call him (call it a gut feeling but we don’t think he’s into that). He’s expecting his first child with Queer As Folk actress Michelle Clunie.
Bryan’s rep Simon Halls told E! News:
“Best friends for 25 years, mother and father are both very excited about the upcoming birth and look forward to co-parenting the child together. The pair have been planning this baby for years and have been trying for the last two.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
In even more shocking news, E! also reports that Michelle is not acting as surrogate, meaning the two conceived naturally.
Bryan told Out earlier this year:
“I’m quite bisexual. In the last five years, I’ve had two girlfriends—one for two years, one for eight months…In the end, it’s probably going to be a guy. I emotionally lean towards male relationships, so I’m happy to say I’m gay, too, if it’s a one-syllable, easy answer.”
Funny how we’ve never once heard of him trotting around town with a woman, but hey, maybe that’s just media bias for you. Or, you know, maybe not.
It’s worth noting that Halls also announced the pregnancy in the same way you’d expect a big-budget blockbuster to be teased:
“I can confirm that Michelle Clunie and Bryan Singer are happily expecting a baby together in early 2015,” he told press.
Coming soon to a delivery room near you.

What ever….just….What ever.

However, Clunie’s rep told BuzzFeed News, ‘Michelle and Bryan have been close friends for decades — that fact, combined with the proximity of their homes — is hardly grounds to report that she is now also his surrogate. It’s just bad journalism.’ When asked for further comment, Clunie’s rep did not immediately respond.
Wh-huh?? So is she his surrogate or not?

@KwisatzHaderach: Other sites are reporting that he paid her one million to be his surrogate.

@tardis:
Which other sites? The Buzzfeed article mentions that he bought her a house.
Jeremy Kinser
The Buzzfeed article also states that she’s seven months pregnant, yet not due to give birth until 2015. That’s going to be one of longest pregnancies on record.

Waiting for the Singer critics on Queerty to tell us that this is not Singer’s first child…

No, just because she isn’t surrogating somebody else’s egg doesn’t mean she wasn’t artificially inseminated.
As for Singer, I get that the almost lawsuit did a number on his reputation, but pretending that he could be in a relationship with a woman at this point is such Hollywood Publicist bullshit I’m actually embarrassed for the person who had to fax that crap to the media.
KwisatzHaderach
So creepy. On multiple levels.
I mean, what couple waits till the third trimester to say, “We’re pregnant!”? And she’s allegedly seven months pregnant… so the child was conceived (in some manner) just shortly after the molestation allegations came to light. Co-parenting? Separate houses?
I get that he’s trying to rehabilitate his reputation by painting on this “veneer of heterosexual respectability” (i.e., a “wife” and baby), but this makes him seem more like a weirdo than he already was.

@Jeremy Kinser:
Well, October is nearly over. So if you take November to be the seventh month, the baby could be due in early January.

Well, that’s one way to get a new twink – make one from scratch!

Surrogacy and artificial insemination overlap, but are not the same thing. Plenty of married straight couples use artificial insemination as a way to improve their ways or becoming pregnant. Just because she is not a surrogate, it doesn’t mean the baby was naturally conceived. It might be they, having been good friends for decades, decided to co-raise a child as friends.

@KwisatzHaderach: Touche and Halls is earning his salary!

Congrats to both. I love the fact they are co-parenting. Thumbs up!

Nobody believes he is bisexual, his secret twink parties are public knowledge but him dating women are unknown? weird.
Anyway, he is not pretending that they are a couple, they are simply having a child together (like Clay Aiken did with his manager/friend)
Soupy
I shudder to think of that child if he becomes an adolescent boy and “Daddy” is still trolling the twinks.
Pistolo
Gosh, he’s such a letdown. What is with gay directors and going straight? The same thing happened with that guy who directed “The Hours”.
Captain Obvious
Considering the fact that the guy is practically a pedophile I find this all rather scary. That woman is a piece of work. I’d never let a child be around this guy, he chases teens all day… because it’s barely “legal”.
Not everyone needs to have children and he certainly shouldn’t have any. Keep having your twink parties with 18 year old boys and stay away from children.

I love it when queens get mad 😀
Congrats, Brian and Michelle. Who cares what people think?! Y’all have money to raise the kid and that’s the most important thing.
Saint Law
@Dxley: That’s good because you’re insane.

Anymore cringe and her face will be peering out from between her shoulder blades.
