Afternoon Aural: ABC
A reader reminded us of how much ABC’s “The Look Of Love” tickles our aural fancy. We can’t believe it’s never crossed these blessed pages in the past. 5 Responses» |

Afternoon Aural: Rebecca
Unsure of what to post this afternoon, we let the digital gods decide when we searched “pop music” on YouTube. This is what we got: Japanese pop star Rebecca’s “Vanity Angel,” evidence that the Japan did the 80s better than any other nation. 2 Responses» |

Morning Aural: Cee-Lo ft. Timbaland
Alright, we admit that “Ill Be Around” isn’t his best work, but we really wanted to hear some Cee-Lo this morning and not his work on Gnarls Barkley. Thus, a decision was made. Timbaland’s just an added bonus. 2 Responses» |

Afternoon Aural: Nick Cannon ft. R. Kelly
Had you told us that little Nick Cannon would one day marry Mariah Carey, we wouldn’t believe it. Reviewing this video for Gigolo, however, it’s all starting to make sense. They’re made for each other. 3 Responses» |

Mario Flexes His Diva Muscle
People say we gays are vain, but we don’t know anyone quite like straight man Mario Lopez. The actor, who recently began playing lead choreographer Zach in Broadway’s A Chorus Line, reportedly wants to be the biggest muscle man in the show - and he’s making demands to ensure he faces no challengers: [Lopez] refused to wear Zach’s costume, a tan sweater with long sleeves. It’s an iconic outfit, based on that worn in real life by A Chorus Line creator Michael Bennett, and it’s been worn by countless Zachs… for the past 30 years. But “Flex” Lopez wanted to wear a brown shirt with short sleeves so that he could show off his biceps. |
Captain, My Captain!
Ever-and-thankfully shirtless actor Matthew McConaughey may play Captain America in a 2011 big screen production of the legendary comic book. We hope Marvel brings Captain America back from the dead by then, because a movie of a dead superhero would be too unrealistic. [MG] 6 Responses» |

Morning Aural: The Brunettes
Bells and whistles are all well-and-good, but sometimes simplicity takes the cake, as evidenced in The Brunettes “B.A.B.Y.” The track, from the twee-popsters’ 2007 release, Structure & Cosmetics, stands for Brunettes Against Bubblegum Youth, just so you know… 1 Response» |

Glad.
The media watchdogs over at GLAAD are tickled pink about ABC soap Brothers & Sisters‘ forthcoming gay wedding: “We applaud ABC for highlighting Kevin and Scotty’s declaration of commitment to each other in the presence of their family and friends. Kevin and Scotty’s ceremony reflects the ongoing commitment of Brothers & Sisters and ABC to making visible the multi-dimensional lives of gay characters.” [Contact Music] 2 Responses» |

Afternoon Aural: Santogold
Brooklyn-based singer Santogold breathes some much-needed fresh air into America’s music scene with her eponymous debut. This here’s the video for the album’s second single, “L.E.S. Artistes,” a message that too many New Yorkers need to hear. 4 Responses» |

Mariah’s New Video: Evidence Of A Marriage To Be…
Here it is: the new video for Mariah Carey’s latest single, “Bye Bye,” which was directed by her then-future, currently-new hubby, Nick Cannon. Our soul sister Lauren Williams of Stereohyped fame described the video as “cheesy Mariah at her cheesiest.” Basically, this shit’s like fondu, only twice as fattening. Oh, and it’s looong! 5 Responses» |

Morning Aural: Icehouse
We’re not exactly sure how to explain it, but we absolutely love Icehouse’s “Hey Little Girl.” Must be the synthesizers putting a spell on us… 1 Response» |
Martha On Hillary, Child Stars and Stef Steinbrenner’s Lesbianism
Martha Plimpton’s got staying power. The 37-year old landed her first role at the age of eleven, no doubt because of her famous lineage - her parents are actors Shelley Plimpton and Keith Carradine. While other child stars would have fizzled long ago, the striking young Plimpton’s still going strong and about to open a new Broadway show, Top Girls. Homo-journo Brandon Voss recently interviewed Plimpton for The Advocate, but some of the juicier bits of the conversation didn’t make the cut. Thus, Voss offered us some “exclusive excerpts,” which is just a sugar-coated way of saying “scraps.” No matter, we would eat Plimpton’s shit if she’d let us. Okay, that’s (mostly) not true, but we love her enough to pass along these cuts, in which she chats about a “feminist backlash” to Hillary Clinton, feeling bad for Lindsay Lohan and her dykey Goonies character, Stef Steinbrenner. Read all about it, after the jump… |

“Russian Madge” Breaking Out
Now that Madonna’s reaching her 437th year, it’s time for the universe to find a new ultimate diva. And Russian popstar Valeriya is gunning for the top spot. In fact, she’s already being referred to as the “Russian Madonna,” which means she must have a big gay following, right? Right. But she’s making sure to cover all her bases: I don’t like the term gay icon, I just want to be an icon! I wouldn’t mind if they like me, why not. I think that the gay people are very creative, they feel everything very well and have good taste. I hope that my music can help people, especially those that have had to deal … Continued… 5 Responses» |

“Crotch-Cam” Shuttered
Talk about a letdown! Our - um - interest was piqued this morning when we read about a “pervert” who secretly films men’s crotches on the subway, posts the videos on YouTube and provides dirty, lecherous commentary, like this: “The bulge on him just brings so much to the imagination . . . and the fact that he was oblivious to my filming is so great.” Indeed… Lawyerly types told the New York Post that since the crotches are already “public display” and the man isn’t making any money, there’s nothing illegal about the videos. Someone else must have convinced the filmmaker otherwise, because the account - the appropriately entitled “househead7d5,” which also included … Continued… 3 Responses» |
