In keeping with the recent trend of Jake Shears sightings, the Scissor Sister was spotted again last night, DJing the favorite San Francisco weekly event Booty Call hosted y Juanita More! and Joshua J. Shears was signing books at the nearby Books, Inc. earlier in the evening. His spate of San Francisco appearances in recent weeks are attributable to the launch of “Tales of the City, The Musical,” a staged version of Armistead Maupin’s famed novel that you really should read. Compulsory.
Or just enjoy pics of the sexy sister making the crowd get nuts. It was a mob scene on Castro Street, which happens less and less these days, and the teaming bar swayed. At one point, Shears offered up the newest unreleased Sisters offering and the full house quite nearly ignited. All in all epic fun, a moment only made possible by the magic of Juanita More (learn her) and Joshua J. Bravo!
I love them. They’re the perfect mix of tragedy, sleaziness, sitting alone in the small hours thinkin’ about your life…ness, and camp. Anyone who doesn’t take them as serious song writers should listen to “return to oz”, “it can’t come quickly enough”, and “I can’t decide”, they’re brilliant. Bit of a rant but when I was younger there really weren’t any gay bands with this much exposure, gave me someone to look up to. :)
