Kim Davis. Now, there’s a name we haven’t heard in a while.
The Rowan County clerk has kept a low profile after dominating headlines last summer for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples on religious grounds–despite the historic Supreme Court ruling that came exactly one year ago on Sunday.

Davis’ personal moral dispute with the United States Constitution, doomed from the get-go, included multiple courtroom visits, court orders, an arrest and failed appeals. And in the end, all that time and taxpayer money resulted in absolutely nothing except that she got a flurry of attention in her attempt to humiliate same-sex couples. Wef can still get married. And Kim Davis has since faded into obscurity.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Until now, the anniversary of the supreme court decision legalizing marriage equality.
This week, Davis’ lawyers asked an appeals court to forget about the stir she created and to please make the entire case vanish.
In a motion filed yesterday with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit, where Davis is still fighting an earlier contempt order against her, her lawyers asked the whole matter–everything–all of it–including the part when she stood in front of a jailhouse, raised her hands to the sky and declared herself a martyr–be dismissed.

Davis’ attorneys argued that, thanks to a new state law, county clerks are no longer required to sign their names on marriage licenses. Therefore, “the very religious accommodation Davis sought from the beginning of this litigation” has been met and the whole case is officially moot.
And now that that’s been settled, Davis’ lawyers added, she’d also like to have the lower court order that found her in contempt, resulting in her spending five days in jail, dismissed and her record cleared. Please and thank you.
Since the start of Davis’ legal drama, when she first issued a “no license” policy on all marriage certificates, gay or straight, in response to the SCOTUS ruling, she has failed at convincing the court that her personal religious beliefs held any sway over her duties as a public official required to follow the letter of the law. Though insiders say there’s a good chance the 6th Circuit will agree to put the issue to bed this time.
If it does, it will be Davis’ first win in her epic, year-long court fight.
But, as Huffington Post points out, it would be a win “not because she was ever right on the law, but because the law was changed to spare her.”

Yup darlin’, the internet is forever.
All those years of adulterous bed hoppin’ , all that time you spent getting banged by Satan so to speak, will live on well after that massive forehead of yours has retired .

Let her enjoy her tiny victory..some small token of recompense for her God gifting her the bone structure of a boiled egg

She ought to be arrested for sheer stupidity. That and her appalling dress sense.

Kim Davis, you are in the ash heap of history. “Your words will disappear, your house will disappear, all memory of you will disappear”, but the Internet will remember you forever.
DCguy
Notice how as soon as she wasn’t getting any more political attention the right wing groups funding her disappear and the lawyers want to end the case?
If they thought it was going to get them P.R. they would take her case all the way to the Supreme Court if they could. But now they’re dumping her, just like she dumped all her husbands for those multiple men she committed adultery with.
ingyaom
Not that face again. Please go back to your three husbands and leave us alone.

The most hateful face I’ve ever seen.

OK, guys, enough with the Kim Davis bullshit. If we are to be strong and united, it is time to forgive and forget Kim Davis and all her messy fucked up ideals. I am Christian, but i don’t preach. I am gay, and out, and living in a small community by choice. I hate to use a cliche’, WWJD? She wants attention, so ignore her. She lost. She IS lost. Let’s treat her as we would want to be treated. At least she wasn’t in Orlando’s Pulse massacre. Move on. let go of the rage against her machine.
peace.
Texas Guy
I was really, really hoping that we would never see another goddamned thing on Queerty about Kim Davis. She is totally fucked up and deserves no more attention… NONE!
GayEGO
She wants her record cleared? Oh no, we should never forget this phony bigot, but we should move on, leaving her in the trash heap! :>)
elemirion
I say no! She should still be fired for not doing her job. Religious freedom does not cover not doing your job. If you don’t like your job, quit. She caused a problem that cost her state quite a chunk of cash, and she should have to pay for it. She should learn that being Christian doesn’t excuse her from being a good person, which she isn’t, she’s a bigot, a liar and by her religion an adulterer.
James
She should be in federal prison.

@wainiac: “Out” in that you accept tolerance so long as you “keep it in the bedroom”? Or out in that you accept nothing less than the same kind of response for the same kind of behavior as your straight friends and neighbors? That means, the same holding hands and peck on the cheek straight couples perform in public when the spirit moves them with out fear or derision, the same freedom to talk about your partner or date or family in the same way, the ability to have a picture of your spouse on your desk without ridicule.
Anything less than the latter is not “out”. It is circumscribing your behavior in the hopes that you remain safe and enfranchised, and accepting yourself as lesser than others.
I hope your community is accepting, and understand that some small communities are, but Christians seldom are and expect you to accept yourself as held to a separate code of behavior.
LubbockGayMale
Another example of conservatives passing laws that conform to their sense of “righteousness”, then claiming ‘See, we were right all along, and should face no consequences for our illegal actions!”

@dwes09: i am out. when i told my workplace, they cheered and the boss told me he expected me to ‘gay-up’ the place and anyone making negative ‘gay’ remarks, i was empowered to tell them that language was no longer tolerated. my presence turned out to be a great reminder to every one regarding tolerance. I do not engage in romantic behavior because i do not have a partner. when i did have a relationship, i was as discrete as i would expect a straight couple would be. when my queer friends come to see me at work, we embrace and peck on the check. this is really not why i commented on Kim Davis. I commented on her shit because God will take her inventory and i am tired of the ‘gay’ news always being negative. and if it is not negative, it is stupid fluff. You can create any definition of ‘out’ you wish, but please do not make assumptions about the way i choose to live my life. I personally do not give a shit what others do or say, i am a good man and there are a lot of allies here to protect me and my life style. please do not waste your time dissecting my statements.

@wainiac:
Interesting that someone who states “I personally do not give a shit what others do or say….” proceeds to tell others what to do or say.
I personally don’t give a shit about what you do or say, but I support your right to say it.
F*ck Off.

@martinbakman: – I *love* this lead-in comment!!
I say fu*k the bit*h and skewer her! Contempt of Court is a crime, isn’t it?

Kim Davis is such a miserable woman! There is no where in the New testament (books of JESUS) that claim hatred and justify bigotry!
God does not measure you by your sexuality but by love and your heart! She is wrong.

People like her will always be on the wrong side of history. Better decide now what’s right because it will be on the internet FOREVER.

@martinbakman: I doubt it. Satan has standards.

@James: She shouldn’t be in jail.

@PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID: Why is it bigoted to insult people for being gay but not someone’s appearance? It seems like it’s more acceptable to bully people if they’ve done something wrong themselves.

Several months have passed since we’re last heard from Kim… which husband number is she on now?

@martinbakman: Somebody needs to share with her the good news….about bangs!

What a dishonest article, the law wash changed because she was right and the existing system was wrong because it discriminated against religious people. (and thus was unconstitutional).
She has good cause to sue for wrongful imprisonment but it is not about money for her it is about the right to practice her religion and that is price less.
The three gay couples trying to sue her also had their cases thrown out.
She won, but the press is not as interested in publicising her victory as it was in wrongfully demonising her.
It is Queerty which is trying to rewrite history, it is not keen on reporting her victory and it trying to twist it into some form of “compassion” for here.
She was right that is why the law was changed, they cared little for compassion when they jailed her, they could not do that soon enough despite her appeals for change in the law.
Pretty pathetic stuff.
The nasty comments here do not show the LGBT “community” in a good light either,
of course not all gays are bigots.
