One of the suspects charged in Philadelphia’s brutal September 11th gay bashing has a history of being homophobic on Twitter. Are you surprised?
We reported earlier today that three suspects have been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and criminal conspiracy after beating and subsequently hospitalizing a gay couple in an unprovoked attack in Center City this month.
From a group of 12 reported former Catholic high school classmates, eight allegedly took active roles in the assault, and only three have been charged.

One assailant, 24-year-old Kathryn Knott, is the daughter of Chalfont, Pennsylvania Police Chief Karl Knott and an apparent spoiled brat. Her neighbors told ABC 6 that they’re “not surprised” by the charges.
And according to some tweets dug up by Twitter user Clarknt67, she’s had quite a few things to say about gays, and quite a few tequila shots too many. From what we can tell, she’s also an ER technician, has a propensity to drink at home, and is so annoyed when her parents give her checks instead of cash:

She’ll just get a slap on the wrist. Matter of fact all of them will. Lets look at the situation: The cops wasn’t even interested in pursuing the case since it was an assault. And the only way they got caught was through twitter because the Cops were too lazy to look. The three they’re charging are probably all connected somehow with important parents so they will get off where as the other 5 there might have been a possibility they would have to serve time. That’s why they’re not charged.

@Joe Dalmas: i just checked out her twitter account and she has posted several X-rays and ct scans of patients that she was taking care of at the time. i am not sure about the laws in pennsylvania but in canada, you can lose your licence for publishing someone’s private medical data. i am wondering if she got permission to post photos of the biggest stroke she’s ever seen???? or the guy cleaning gutters in the rain(broken hip)???? WTF? the hospital needs to be shut down for letting her work there for patient privacy issues as well as human rights violations!

just want to point out that the police did want to find the assailants. They post the surveillance feed online which helped people online to identify these horrible people. although she is the daughter of the police chief, let’s not drag the whole police force through the mud.

I would be willing to bet that many of the nurses on staff cannot stand this smart-ass. The ones who do relate to her likely behave just as atrociously. Nursing is a profession. She drags the field down every time she comes to work. I’m writing a letter to the BRN of Pennsylvania. Even though Pennsylvania doesn’t have hate crimes defined as crime committing against sexual orientation, the federal government such as FBI can and does investigate and prosecute crimes of bias as civil rights violations, which do fall under its jurisdiction. Why they haven’t stepped in to intervenes as the crimes committed by these a**holes were clearly falling into hate crimes definition by the Fed? Where is the ACLU?

I hope she has her license taken away if convicted, she could never be trusted to have a job where she deals with the sick or vulnerable. I can only imagine the horror she may have already caused in her job so far. As GLBT people we are extra vulnerable to bigots like this when we are sick or in need. I fear the day I may end up in the hospital or nursing home and be at the mercy of a straight bigot, very very scary !

@Cam: Indeed it is a gross violation of HIPPA. Even relatives from outside the family of the patient, as in cousins, aunts, uncles… are allowed no information except the parents, brothers, or sisters, of the patient. That is one of the first three instructions given to new Chaplains in CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education). That CNA will never see the inside of any medical facility again… as an employee, unless her new employer is awfully lax in their hiring practices! And references are checked with a microscope in the medical field! But some DO squeak through, though very rare!

The xrays she posted are HIPPA violations and can (and should) be reported as such. Per the HHS website anyone can report it but I don’t know the specific hospital in question. Any help?
The online tool to report it seems to be down atm (possibly too many people reporting her ass…) but you can just email it which is what I plan to do once I track down the name of the hospital…

Stuff like this is NOT helping. All it does is give the defense attorney ammunition to say his client can’t get a fair trial, due to all the negative publicity. And there’s bound to be a backlash about the “attempt to try her in the media”.

Major HIPAA violation. From the HIPAA website:
The fine for a violation due to willful neglect, but corrected within the required time period, is a minimum of $10,000 per violation with a maximum of $50,000.
The fine when the willful neglect violation is not corrected increases from $10,000 to $50,000.
If I were her, I’d get over my resentment over receiving Daddy’s checks.
