Nick Jonas Confronts “Gay Baiting” Accusations Head On

You’ve been sitting around wondering whether Nick Jonas thinks he’s been exploiting his gay fanbase. Well, you can rest easy — because he doesn’t.

Talking to BillboardJonas says those accusations that he’s stringing along gay men is totally unfair.

“Think about my past and where my love for performance comes from — musical theater,” he says. “And playing this gay fighter in a very macho world for Kingdom, it requires me digging really deep, and I do it with respect and honor.”

As for the backlash he faced after speaking at New York’s Orlando vigil, he has no regrets whatsoever.

“I wouldn’t change a thing,” he says. “That’s a moment — and in general the time we’re in in this country — where unity, support and raising our hand and saying we can make change is what’s important, so it’s a shame when people make it about something else.”
