Totally agree with your sentiment. Viet Nam is the 13th most populous country with about 85 million countrymen (more than California, New York and Texas combined). I bet that this model and his countrymen, though, much prefer to be known as Vietnamese instead of being lumped in as generic Asians.

Your point: “When will “exotic” be dropped to describe someone who isn’t white?” is so valid. Particularly when you take into account that of the 7 billion people of this planet, over 4 BILLION (not “close to a billion”) are Asians, or nearly 60%.
