FLASHBACK

WATCH: Party People Pick The Best ’80s Films

What’s your favorite 80s film? Sorry, Death Becomes Her and The Addams Family were both early ’90s. We put the question to the scruffy kiddos at Deca-Dance, a monthly tribute to decades past at MJ’s in Silverlake. So what did we learn? That if you ever want to feel old, just engage some cute young thing in a conversation about Back to the Future and wait for him to mention offhand that he was born a decade after it came out.   IMG_9095 Party-promoter Tobias likes Jedi, but acknowledges that his favorite really should be Empire. Jourdan and Mark, meanwhile, agree that Heathers is the best.
IMG_9097 Tobias and Ongina love some Neverending Story.
IMG_9101 Jason, Whitney and Christina have a whole slew of favorites: Labyrinth, Breakfast Club, Goonies, Real Genius, Some Kind of Wonderful, and Princess Bride.
IMG_9104 Allison and Salvador bond over their mutual admiration for Sixteen Candles, Robocop and Die Hard.
IMG_9107 David and Josh like Ghostbusters, which is appropriate given the unsettling specter lurking behind them.
IMG_9109 Charlie, Brian and Chris like Dirty Dancing, Purple Rain and something called Novelas that we were unable to find any reference to on IMDb.
IMG_9113 Here’s Brandon and Amber and Nathan and Drew and Megan and Kyle. Their picks range from The Fog to The Breakfast Club to Batman to Robocop to The Goonies.
IMG_9116 Cassandra and Michael like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

Most of these movies are objectively terrible kiddie films that are only enjoyable through the clouded eyes of nostalgia.

The last dude’s kind of legit though.
