For those of us who can read German, “The Schwarz” comes across as “The Black”. “Schwarz” is a German adjective meaning “black”, and it is possible to drop the noun it modifies when the noun is known from context, making use of grammatical gender to resolve ambiguities. So, if there is a black pen and a black book on the table, you ask someone which one they want, and the reply is “Das Schwarze”, it mean “the black book” because the German word for book is Buch (neuter gender, hence the definite article “das”).
