It’s hard to believe but it’s been 10 years since Chris Crocker first uploaded that iconic “Leave Britney Alone!” video to YouTube, catapulting him to Internet superstardom.
Yesterday marked the video’s 10 year anniversary. To celebrate, Crocker uploaded the video to his Instagram page along with a message.

“10 years ago on this day, I defended my favorite pop star against the media,” Crocker writes. “I was mocked for my femininity. I was called every gay slur in the book. Talk show hosts questioned if I was a man or woman, after playing the clip.”

Crocker says he knew there was “no way people would take me serious” so he created a cartoon persona, but that was never who he truly was on the inside.
“The truth is and always was about standing up for someone and not standing idly by when you see someone being hurt by others,” he writes.
Looking back, Crocker wonders: If he had released the video just a few years later, after people had become more accepting on LGBTQ people and personalities, would the response have been the same?

“Even if I got a public beating for standing up for what’s right,” he writes, “I’m happy I did.”
And, for the record, he still loves Britney Spears… even if the feeling isn’t mutual.

Not the studios he worked for. Crocker’s problem was that his video went viral before Youtube instituted a fair monetization policy. If he is popular today, he should be able to make 5 figures, in addition to commercial deals. But frankly, he’s not very appealing.

I had no problems with him being gay and/or trans. My problem was Crocker’s over-the-top reaction and obvious need for attention. Basically, my reaction was, “Get a life! Go rant about something that actually impacts humanity…”
That said, am I missing something? What did the blog mean by, “And, for the record, he still loves Britney Spears… even if the feeling isn’t mutual.” Did Spears slam Crocker or otherwise dismiss him?

I was in 7th grade when one of my buds showed me this clown’s video. We both wanted to puke. He thinks that people hated him for being gay, but the truth is that they pitied him for failing as a man. And rightfully so.

I always considered this guy a clown, not because of him being gay or wearing makeup, but because he seemed like a whack job in that video.
To get THAT emotionally distraught and devastated to the point of sobbing just because some media outlets said some unflattering things about a pop star? My GOD, get a life. I’ve seen people at funerals show more restraint than he did in that video. (At least those people had a logical reason for being upset).
Take that kind of passion and use it for something worthy.

So he’s talking about the “Iconic” video 10 years later. How is this any different from when he talked about it 1 year later, 5 years later, 7 years later, or almost any time he’s been interviewed?
The thing that’s more surprising is that it’s been 10 years since Spears meltdown.

Chris, I do hope you have some one in your life that tells you what you don’t want to hear and that you stop long enough to listen to what they are telling you. Your fifteen minutes of fame are over. The porn vids were ok but you didn’t exactly make many waves in porn else you’d still be doing it. Were I that person in you life I would advise you to get ready for going back to school or learning a trade. Regardless of how long or round what the models have to offer are hot bodies in porn are a dime a dozen and in a case like that the “price” of porn models comes down due to supply and demand. Think on that one for a minute. Good luck hon. I do wish you nothing but the best of luck. Once your over twenty-five age is no longer an excuse for stupidity.
