This guy really needs to work on his approach.
19-year-old Corey Harter was arrested on charges of sexual battery, voyeurism, and illegal consumption of alcohol after allegedly molesting a sleeping frat boy on Halloween night.
According to court documents filed Monday, Harter attended a Halloween party at a fraternity house near the Indiana University-Purdue University campus. After throwing back a few drinks, he and the alleged victim passed out in the victim’s room around 1 a.m.
Three hours later, shortly after 4 a.m., the victim awoke to what he claims felt like someone “touching my penis.”
“(The victim) stated he observed Harter lift up the blanket (the victim) was sleeping under and shine his cell phone underneath it,” the official court document states. “After raising the covers, Harter then reached underneath (the victim’s) boxers and placed his hand around (the victim’s) penis.”
“What are you doing?” the victim cried. “That’s sexual harassment. Get out of my room!”
Harter immediately fled. Meanwhile, the victim called police.
Authorities apprehended Harter a short while later. He told them he “did not recall the incident,” though a series risque photos on his phone that were taken earlier hours earlier told another story.
Police uncovered several pictures of a male, presumably the victim, dressed in black boxers under a blanket. Harter insisted the photos were of himself, but police determined that the victim has been wearing black underpants at the time of the alleged attack, while Harter’s undies were grey.
The victim told police he “had never felt so violated in my life” and was concerned the incident might cause him “permanent emotional distress.” As a result, he requested to speak to a counselor.
Harter was jailed Saturday morning and has since posted bail. The county prosecutor has yet to file formal charges.

Such drama… Yes, it was wrong and the guy should be punished, but “permanent emotional distress” is ridiculous.

Hahahaha LOL Emotional Distress ! Talk about a victim who is “milking it for all it’s worth”. The dude that took the pictures fucked up by keeping them lol. A the supposed victim is such a cry baby, why can’t he just be like every other straight drunk guy and take his fondling while pretend passed out?

Corey’s been watching too many of the frat hazing videos online. Fantasy is not reality.

Now, that’s a bit far-fetched

The drunk kid fucked up. Sounds like the frat boy is working an angle, though. Perhaps his grades are bad and he wants to blame them on this.

“That’s Sexual Harassment!” “Permanent Emotional Distress” Somebody’s already talked to a lawyer.

@brandon: ain’t that the damn truth

@Cam: …….or is a law student himself.
Not many frat guys would wake up from a drunken stupor @ 4am & say “That’s sexual harassment!”
BitterOldQueen
Seriously? Someone actually claims to have spoken the words, “What are you doing?” the victim cried. “That’s sexual harassment. Get out of my room!”? People just don’t talk like that. Guy’s still a creep who should’ve been arrested, so that’s all good; the victim’s story tastes funny though.

I once jumped my roommate when my ‘girlfriend’ went to the bathroom. I furiously went to town on him, a little resistance initially. It stopped when the girlfriend was about to return to the room.
We remained friends. He explained that he was obviously much too irresistible & that he has reported to his own girlfriend that I gave better head than she.

This isn’t a joking matter. What if it had been a sleeping woman? Would folks still feel the need to joke? It’s a form of rape and needs to be dealt with appropriately. Everything else, youth, attractiveness, grades, what words were spoken, is irrelevant.
DesperateRachel
The amount of casual sexism and victim-shaming in these comments is shocking.
Stache99
@throwslikeagirl: I agree. Rape is forcing yourself on someone where they can’t resist. In this case being passed out. He should be expelled at the very least.

@DesperateRachel:
Let me get this straight, a frat boy gets drunk and brings a guy back to his bed…then wakes up with that guy “maybe” touching his”penis”. Then he says ” Stop, that’s sexual harassment”
The guy leaves…
I don’t really think a law was broken…
If fact it sounds as if a frat boy hooked up and when he got catch, declared he was a victim of sexual harassment.
I don’t know, but when I get drunk and bring strange unknown boys back to my bed…Im looking for a little something something
tham
@tham:
Oh and he undress to his underwear and then gets in bed with that strange, unknown, boy….and then he’s shocked that that unknown boy put his hand on his “penis”….
redcarpet30
Yeah, we should be taking this more seriously. Obviously this guy either watched too many FraternitX videos or has had some history that severely messed up his sense of right and wrong.

@redcarpet30:
Again, a guy gets drunk, brings a guy back to his bed, strips to his underwear, gets in bed with him, then 3 hours later freaks out that this strange unknown boy touched his penis.
What crime happened?
crowebobby
Where the hell do you get the “Sneaks into frat boy’s bedroom” headline from? They both passed out in the guy’s room. And yes, it is a laughing matter. Once you’re in college — and apparently old enough to drink — a reasonable response would be: “Thanks, but no thanks.” With an optional request that the guy find somewhere else to sleep. Isn’t college supposed to teach a kid a little about life, as well as saddle him/her with a lifetime of debt?
mmichael_24
@tham: So your just drawing your own conclusion most likeley from all the fraternity x you have been watching? Not all frat guys are undercover gay or want to experiment im sorry to break it to you. No matter what you say this was a crime.
throwslikeagirl
We have absolutely no knowledge of what went on prior to the incident. Many times while in college, I fell asleep in someone’s room/apt. after drinking, or they fell asleep in mine. Nothing against anyone’s wishes ever happened. For three years in college, I lived with two straight friends. Nothing ever happened that was inappropriate, in others words that someone wouldn’t consent to. Just as a low cut dress and a push-up bra does not implicitly mean “I want sex with you”, neither does a guy iwearing black boxers. Again, I’m thinking of what would have happened if it was a girl. There’s a double standard working here in some of these comments, and I can’t help but feel some of it is also because they’re presumably written by gay men. A triple standard? This needs to be hashed out in a court of law.

I agree that this should be taken seriously. What he did was wrong. But this guy reminds me of the 18 year old that went to the perv doctor TWICE and was permanently scarred. Are young men just SO delicate these days? Wait till they find out what life has in store for them.

Let me get this straight – he awoke to someone touching his penis but he saw the perp lift up the blanket and shine his cell phone underneath it. All this before the alleged penile contact? Under the circumstances why did he not stop the guy before the hand went in for the capture? Surely he couldn’t have been so naive as to not know what was happening.
My bet is that the perp has been after the victim before and been turned down, possibly multiple times. That might explain the quick use of the phrase sexual harrassment. Perhaps the victim was just a straight boy c*ck-tease who had the guy who he was teasing get the jump on him.

@tham, it’s not that simple. He didn’t know Harter was gay or bisexual. Straight males can be very comfortable with one another and not think anything of it because there’s no sexual tension. If a woman did the same with a man, we’d say she asked for it by putting herself in that situation, in the same way you’re saying the male victim asked for it by putting himself in that situation, but he had no idea that Harter would try something sexual. Even if he knew he was gay Harter had no right to do what he did. I got drunk a lot in college but I wasn’t out my first 2 years and so i was sexually frustrated, but i never made any advances on a friend or acquaintance when we were drunk. I’m surprised by a lot of the comments actually. It feels like just because the victim is a guy, that must mean he’s not really a victim. it reminds me of peoples lack of concern over female teacher sleeping with male students. We need to stop thinking males can’t be sexually assaulted.

This just reminded me of the story about the girl at Columbia University, carrying the matress where she was raped around in protest since neither the college nor the police took action against the rapist. Don’t get me wrong, I agree that what Corey did was wrong and the details of both stories are very different, it’s just the contrast between them that bothered me: guy fondles another guy in his sleep, gets arrested and probably is going to get expelled or leave the college humiliated/ Guy rapes a girl (or several), stays cool while she’s the one being humiliated.
mmichael_24
@tham: well damn it sounds like you were there. And im basing my oppinon on what the article said. Whipe your basing your oppinon on fraternityx videos
