Because the internet is basically an elaborate infrastructure designed to deliver you a steady stream of new free porn, it shouldn’t come as a huge shock that 44 million users a day visit Pornhub to get their fix.
What is surprising, though, is what those scores of horny mouse clickers are typing into the search bar.
Pornhub has released its data on the top searches, broken down by gender.
The biggest shock is that second on the list for women (after lesbian) is gay men. That means that on average, more women are watching two dudes getting in on online than men are. Which strays entirely from our own, unofficial user experiment. But numbers don’t lie.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
The “gay male” category doesn’t appear on team guy until line seven, behind such poetic titles as “Teen,” “MILF,” and”Mature.”

“That means that on average, more women are watching two dudes getting in on online than men are.” Well, not necessarily. Since there are no numbers attached to the pretty bar graph. If this graph is put out by pornhub, it could just be showing a breakdown by percentage of viewers of men and women.

I don’t believe thos study, and I do not believe that women, or if you prefer ( ladies) LOVE gay porn. For many women, the act of two men kissing is a turnoff. So I could not imagine many wanting to sit through a full gay porn with enjoyment. And women for the most part, are just not as visually sexually aroused as men are.
My conclusion: is that you have many women, who are curiosity seekers , ( which is human nature) who are clicking on to pornhub
out of curiosity, and not anything sexually. So this should not be mistaken as a love for gay porn…
vive
Strangely enough, the opposite is also the case.
I am a gay man who, during periods, have watched mostly straight porn. There are several reasons – I like that the straight guys are less excessively preened and primped than the ones in gay porn still are in many studios, although body hair has made a comeback in gay porn, which is nice. In straight porn the guys are on average MUCH better endowed than the gay porn average. Straight porn used to be the only access one could see “bareback” action, creampies, an the like. And straight porn never shows a limp dick, whereas in gay porn lots of limp dicks are shown even in the age of Vi*gra.

I know a lot of women who have admitted to me that they enjoy watching gay porn. I’ve even made out with this woman’s boyfriend at a night club in Minneapolis because it turned her on. He was gorgeous, muscular and 3 inches taller than me (believe me, that never happens). I know I was being objectified but I was out to have fun. Why would I deny her her gay guy fantasy if it allowed me a taste of my straight guy fantasy :p

Creepy how teens is top rated choice…if not for a legal age limit, at what age would people stop?!?!?
Saint Law
@Tackle: Do you actually know any women?
Dave4445
@Tackle:
It’s so well known that straight men love lesbian porn, it’s often marketed to them. Straight porn often contains female on female action. It’s not a stretch to believe that many straight women are actually turned on by two men kissing. From what I’ve seen, kissing is not what’s featured in the majority of porn, gay or straight.

Can you imagine the paradigm shift playing out this way:
A man is on Jerry Springer saying his wife dumped him because he wasn’t hot anymore. She comes on and says, “His stomach isn’t tight, he doesn’t have a bubble butt, and his penis is small. Of course I went to find a hotter guy!”
Stache99
@vive: You have interesting observations. I’d say part of the problem is just the condoms themselves which straights by and large don’t have to worry about which= harder c*cks.
Plus, for whatever reason a large gay contingent loves watching straight guys get it on with each other. Of coarse they’re only there for the pay and it shows.
I still remember having to beat off to guys like Ron Jeremy back in the old bad days of straight porn for my straight porn big d*ck fix. We’ve come a long ways..
Stache99
@Preston: I don’t really know what to say but I’m just kind of jealous right now. I’ve done straight couples before but never where they’re smoking hot. I should’ve taken up those swinger party invitations…
LandStander
This does not make any sense. Gay (male) is not a category, nor something typically entered into a search bar on Pornhub. Pornhub has an entire subsection of gay porn, with it’s OWN categories…. Maybe I’m just confused…?
itgi
This is fascinating, and bears out something I’ve noticed about gay male fiction on Amazon . The m/m romance section there is dominated both by female writers and female readers – that is readers who post comments on the books they’ve read.
I have no idea why this is the case, but there clearly is a huge female market for male gay erotica.
phoenician
Besides all that, would love to know which film that photo is from.
Ridpathos
I’m actually surprised that the top search by women is “lesbian” porn.
DarkZephyr
@Tackle: why are you so convinced that two men kissing is a turn off for women? I don’t think one single straight or bisexual female friend of mine is repulsed by guy on guy action. Every single one I know loves it. I always buy my best friend Tamie gay porn for her birthday and for Christmas because she loves the stuff even more than I do. My friend Sarah is blind but gets hot and bothered by the sounds of two men fucking each other and moaning, she can barely contain herself when she hears it. And these are just two examples out of many.
Dxley
Curiosity.
The vast majority of women don’t want to see guys getting it on.
Tackle
@Saint Law: Yes I know quite a few.and NONE has expressed a desire to view gay porn, or stated that it, or watching two men togather sexually is a turn-on.@Dave4445: I don’t believe that straight men love lesbian porn. I believe that straight men enjoy straight porn, which happens to include a lesbian scene. Big difference. Because straight men like to know and and believe the fantasy that they could be included. With lesbians and lesbian porn, that door is closed. And you mentioned the female to female action in straight porn, that some straight men enjoy, and you assume it must be the same must be the same with gay porn if straight women are watching. I say wrong. Because for the most part, sexually and otherwise, men and women are wired differently. And I know that kissing is not the major feature in porn. I was saying that if a large percentage of women are turned- off by two men kissing, they sure would not want to see anything more…
Tackle
@DarkZephyr: Yes I believe that most are. And as a gay man, of course they’re NOT going to tell you that. They’re going to pretend they love all things gay. And I would seriously doubt if any of the women you mentioned, are avid, consistent seekers of gay porn. They probably view gay porn the way many of us watch “Faces of Death.” Few and far between.
And if you did not buy your best friend Tammy porn, would she buy it herself??
I don’t understand why it’s so hard for some gay men to believe that physically, not everyone like what we do. And yes there are many people who are disgusted by what we do. From kissing to all the way. And so what. That’s their problem.
ppp111
@Tackle:
I tend to agree with you. I think most women who say this want to reassure their gay friends they’re not homophobic. Like you, I think gay porn is more a curiousity for them than actual obsession although there will always be exceptions. I think many straight women are also fascinated with men who can get turned on without a woman. I’m not implying that there aren’t women who don’t find gay male erotica titallating but most straight women would prefer a man who desires and gets turned on by women rather than men who can do without.
vive
@Tackle, not sure I agree. Do you know that slash fiction is HUGE? (As in M/M romance, written mostly by and mostly for women, sometimes under male-sounding pseudonyms (for cross-appeal to the gay market I suppose).
In fact, in the readership market for gay male romance, straight women outnumber gay men. Curious but true.
vive
@Stache99, I’ve “done” lots of “straight” men 😉 Couples, meh, honestly I’m glad their lady friends were not in the picture.
Tackle
@ppp111: Yes you are correct about there always being exceptions. And gays should not allow or pretend that those few exceptions, define the whole. And gay men should not want, hunger or need for others to like, approve, find sexy and be turned on by what we do physically/sexually. @vive: That is romantic fiction. Not hardcore gay porn. A huge difference. ..
vive
@Tackle, have you read much M/M fiction? (The main market for which is straight women.) From your comment it doesn’t seem that way. True, there is romance, but there is lots of sex too, from kissing to full-on anal sex.
Tackle
@vive: I know exactly what you are talking about. The late author, E.Lynn Harris had a series of gay romance/ romantic novels out. With lots of sex in them. And his main market, and greatest supporters were women. Something being descriptive visually, is not the same blatantly sexual
act right in front of you. In actual porn, you cannot control buy suppressing or glossing certain acts over in your mind. No.It’s spelled out for you.
And by the way, how many women actually engage in anal sex. And how many women like to be rimmed, vs gay men. We can definitely agree that a large portion do engage in oral: but would that be the majority?? But for the majority of gay men, these acts are a staple for us. So what I’m getting at is, why woukd women want to ,and enjoy watching sex acts, that many themselves do not participate in? And lastly, aside from this pornhub study, which is questionable, I have NEVER heard any big or small porn company declaring and marketing their product to women, because they are the largest consumer. I have never heard of them trying to market to women even on a small scale. They are a business. And if they could have gotten money from women, they would have…
boring
Maybe they watch it because it’s bland and safe, while straight porn gets pretty fucking grody (Which, not coincidentally, is what makes straight porn the best).
This is based solely on my female friends all beating off to Bel Ami. It’s not like they’re getting down with TIM shit.
paul747
@Tackle:
The article says most viewed porn category for women is lesbian and you find gay porn more hard to believe than that? Don’t be ignorant
Women watch gay porn all the time. I heard so many women who like it. ever heard of Yaoi?
What i find harder to believe is that lesbian porn is the most viewed category.
I’m pretty sure it’s not true

@Tackle:
You have never dipped your toes in the fandom spectrum of the internet, have you?
We have women: writing slash fanfiction (which features male/male relationships), producing fan art (which includes graphic x-rated male/male action), shipping (getting deeply invested in imaginary romantic and sexual relationships between characters including male/male relationships which don’t exist in the show-movie-book in the first place) and obsessing over subtext (all the lilttle cues we see or imagine we see implying that two male characters have the hots for each other even if the show won’t admit it.)
If there are two male characters in any popular fictional media, women will slash them. It does not stop with kissing, either. Believe me. It can get seriously weird. Google a/b/o fic (created by and for women, and I’ll warn you it’s a very strange and potentially disturbing genre.) When you’re writing porn for yourself, you don’t bother coming up with elaborate scenarios like that unless they turn you on. And yes, we watch gay porn videos, too.
There are many, many straight women who are seriously turned on by men – and even more turned on by porn of two men together.
Believe me, I’ve been hanging out with hundreds of them on the internet for years. I’m not really surprised at what the data shows. And just because women won’t come out and say to people in real life, “Wow, I love gay porn”, it doesn’t mean we don’t exist.
But really, Tackle, go check out fanfic if you think women can’t possibly be into gay porn.
Z.L.
Also, I meant to say that porn companies don’t market gay porn to women because they probably feel, as Tackle does, that women aren’t interested in gay porn.
And directing marketing at female consumers of male/male fanfiction wouldn’t work because we produce our own man-on-man porn. Creating and sharing stories, vids and art of our own fantasy means we don’t have to BUY porn produced outside our social networks.
Tackle
@paul747: @Z.L.: You gays are somehow missing the (whole) point of what I was saying/ eluding to.
And I believe we agree on the matter?? @paul747: And your link proves my point. Yes there is a subculture of women ( subculture deviants or breaks from the larger/ dominant culture .) As@ppp111: stated, about there always being “exceptions.” I agree.
Exceptions to the rule, but not the norm, nor the majority. There is not this great mass of women fantasizing, lusting, and being so turned on by gay PORN, that while viewing it, they have a finger in their hole banging themselves, even if a scene is scorching hot. Now think of where the hands, or hand of most gay men would be.
And speaking of most, let me try, one last time to explain it this way. The majority of teenage boys, with a computer or internet access are probably watching porn. The majority of gay men ,and when I say majority, I’ m talking well over the 50% mark.
Now I would seriously doubt that the majority of straight women are avid viewers of gay porn. And this is/was my main point. That it is
a small/fringe number, not this multitude that you guys are implying.
paul747
@Tackle:
Im not gay.
The sites i shown you, the million other sites or opinions of women you can find on the internet plus the poll above says the same thing. most women do enjoy gay porn.
But tell you what…you feel free to believe whatever you want

@Tackle: I have been a member of a few communities of women who write fanfiction putting two guys together. And I I’m a woman who has searched for game pornaments online, and if you don’t believe this article let me knock some sense into you.
This news makes absolute sense. Women started writing gay fanfiction in the 1960s about Captain Kirk and Spock in Star Trek. Since then, women have written fanfiction about gay celebrities, straight celebrities, and so on.
This is so prevalent that even the show Orange is the New Black referred to it. Characters were talking about what they wanted smuggle in the prison and one of them asked for gay porn.
In some very strict countries, I’ve seen articles about women writing gay fiction even when it’s illegal and they risk punishment.
For some reason, people are willing to believe that straight men get turned on by two women having sex. But apparently the thought of women getting turned on by men having sex is unexpected and not even believed.
Since this is a gay publication, I can totally get how you wouldn’t be familiar with all of this. But today that it is true simply shows a great deal ignorance of the topic.
Would you believe that there are publishers who specialize in gay fiction for women? I’ve known several people who have been published. I have to tell you that they’re not great fiction writers, but they are in on Amazon you have a great deal of discussion about the best stories.
I am straight. Why do you think I’m here?
Women like their gay porn much much differently than men. We like long chapters in which we get to know the men and who they are long before anything physical happens. Once we are invested with the characters, the fan are absolutely hooked. Sometimes instead of fanfiction, it’s called crackfiction because certain stories are so appealing.
I think this publication should do its own survey of women here and find out how many are lesbians and how many are straight. It just might surprise you.
MiralParis
@LandStander: makes perfect sense. You just don’t want to believe it.
MiralParis
@itgi: you mention that you have no idea why that is true. It is because women like to watch gay men getting it on
